Yes Sex and BFS.I'm not as regular as i once was since this started but it happens now and then. The problem ive been having a while is that my worst leg which is the right one at the moment of you know what  and after the event goes into overdrive twitches now merge into spasms / cramps and world war three breaks out. Is it just me ? anything major happening here? Heck of a compliment for the wife though

Hi mateAm so with you, if i sit and watch mine it freaks me out totally, your lucky though you dont get any pain do you?? if what i have is BFS mate then your sooo ok too, the spasms are annoying aint they? if i lift my leg up in the air i get little spasms all in my calf and the bloody hurtchris

For what it's worth Chris, I truly believe you do not have the big one!! I once talked about a 5-10 month time frame in one of my posts, but it was only because I read it on this site under the BFS in a nutshell thread. It means that is there was sinister twitching or whatever, that usually means the disease has already been hovering for APPROXIMATELY 5-10 months. I think you said you began in August? You are almost 8 months in..you are FINE!!

I would imagine that the act reall gets the nerves firing (at least if you do it right!) Doesn't sound like a problem. I'd tell you if that happens to me, but I'm much too demure. :D) Becky

I'll chime in and say that I agree with this post 100%. Sex can be fun and great for anxiety in the short term (ie, will help you get to sleep), but man my nerves are fried for 2 or 3 days afterwards. It's completely noticeable. The minute you introduce excitement to hyperexcited nerves, look out. I get the same effect if I even touch a can of Pepsi. It's great at the time but I'll be feeling it for a couple of days afterwards.

no not at all actually, i think thats a very 2 dimensional way of looking at all this. if your twitching is getting worse and affecting you more and more then i do believe that it could be turning into something nastyjust been for a walk for about 10 mins and for the last 5 mins of it my whole calf cramped up, totally stiff., so yea i think i am progressing, i am convinced of it. i would not call what i have hotspots either, it is localized.chris

I don't get BFS symptoms during sex but I am not pleased about this because the only reason for this is that (a) I don't have sex often enough for this to be a problem (anyone else got young kids that like to sleep in their bed?!) and (b) when I do have sex, it doesn't last long enough to get any symptoms!!!On a more serious note, maybe changing position might reduce the symptoms. All the best Simon

Lovely to hear that we are not the only family who have children in the bed! Children certainly are very grounding and I can well understand the comfort that sharing your bed with a little person might give at a time of worry etc. Anyway I have some big news and am feeling very proud of myself because for the first time in my life I have developed a fasciculation because of conjugal activity! Despite the fact that my wife's first trimester morning sickness has been terrible, the fact that our 3 year old spent the night sleeping (horizontally - at right angles to us) in our bed last night, despite the fact that the very rare conjugal fun that does take place in our house seldom lasts long enough to count to ten, I was fortunate enough not only to get lucky this morning but to find that it lasted long enough this time to count to 20 not 10. The amount of time that I spent carrying my weight through my arms (no time for unusual positions when the only thing stopping childhood interruption is the last 5 minutes of 'Ben 10' on TV) was enough to give the most horrible fasciculation that I've had since my 8 month ordeal started. I have had an incessant strong fasciculation in one strand of muscle in my left triceps, sufficiently forceful to move my clothing. Feels like somone is permanently punching me on this spot and has been like this for 15 hours now. My calves and feet are doing their usual thing but this is in a different league in terms of intensity. I take consolation from the fact that BFS symptoms are apparently made worse by viral unfections and stress - I am just getting over a sore throat (probably gave it to my wife this morning!) and have been part of my region's H1N1 response plan and worked 16 hour days for a few days last week. I take consolation fom the fact that BFS fasciculations occur in different body sites, unlike MND/ ALS which apparently causes fasciculations in one body site - with left arm and both calves now twitching I guess this is a good sign. So there you have it. Have a good day everyone!Simon

Oddly enough I only get them if my wife goes on top (get them where she is resting on my thighs). I say its odd cos my wife is a tiny thing (155cm tall and 45kg) and I'm not (195cm tall and 95kg).Well go figure that one cos I cant.

Hi SpellboundInteresting observation! Maybe the fact that your thigh muscles are supporting your wife's weight make these muscles work in a way that they are not accustomed to and they twitch as a result??? Anyway, in the unlikely event that lightning strikes twice in the same place in my household this month (i.e. once a month is about average for 'intimimate relations' at present!) I will try the suggested position and report back!!!All the bestSimon
