Battling Facial Twitches for 9 Years

I remember breaking down in a bathroom at a wedding about 9 years ago because I was completely convinced I was developing a chronic facial grimacing disorder! I wish I could have all of the time back that I wasted worrying about this disorder. I am sure it is BFS. The twitches in my face have come and gone many times over the years. They are the most annoying and hard to ignore for me. Usually if I take a benedryl before bed and knowck myself out with a good nights sleep it will dissappear. Don't worry, it is BFS!

Amy - I ask because I have been having issues in that part of my neck for a while now, and just wanted solace in the fact that someone else is experiencing what I am.

thanks for the replys. I've twitching and jerking for 2 1/2 years and this face stuff is new for me. My current nuero is sending me to see a neuro at NIH, in about 2 weeks so you all know I'll be asking and "showing" my newest issue.

I've got to admit, when the jerking started in May, I thought that was bad. But when your face is moving when it's not supposed to I think it might be crazier.

BFS is so easy to say, but so hard to believe....

I had twitching in my face very frequently a couple of months ago. And then slowly over time it subsided until I get it very seldom now. There was a time where I was getting tiny twitches every couple of seconds below my left eye non-stop for about two days. I was convinced I was doomed because it just wouldn't stop. Well, it did--finally. And my eyes are fine. And so is the rest of my face. Interestingly, some of us face twitchers may be getting some of our problems via TMJ. TMJ can and does cause twitching in the face and neck. Your dentist can prescribe stuff to make it better and some of the folks on this site have found relief that way. Double D might be a good person to ask if you have questions about TMJ.
