Back from Vacation - All Clear on Neuro Exam!

Sorry, was away on vacation and not checking in.

My neurological diagnosis was a normal exam and no evidence of MND or other neurodegenerative disease. This stunned me as my body was literally going haywire, even on the exam table as they did EMG. The EMG doctor heads their **S practice (Sorenson, I believe?), so I trust he knows what he's doing. And it was very thorough. Guess what. All clear a year later, and feeling great. So they were right.

The neuro was Rabenstein, I believe. He indicated fasciculations of a benign variety, and was very committed to an encouraging diagnosis for me. I was skeptical, and felt at the time he was too quick to raise anxiety and stress as a culprit. After this very positive year, however, I know he was right (in large part - do I know those things CAUSE this? No. But once i made real changes in my life, they have greatly subsided and no longer concern me).

Other symptoms I was having:

SEVERE weakness and fatigue
Cramping
Dizziness
Swallowing issues
Loss of libido
LOTS of twitching and tremor

It felt like i was dying. I literally could not get up off the florr one night after helping my son do a puzzle.

Tests:

Cardiac workup
Liver ultrasound (my only diagnosis was fatty liver, which I need to pay attention to, but does not concern this stuff)
X-Ray and Chest CT
Lots of blood and urine
Neuro exam
EMG/NCS (including facial/bulbar for possible MG)

Honestly, I believe you will be fine. Let us know how it goes. It is a grueling week.

I was seen by a MS Specialist at Mayo 2 1/2 years ago. I was told to get a grip on my anxiety (imagine that??) which was causing me to have benign fascicualations. I specifically asked if I had BFS, and she replied, "Call it a syndrome if you want, but you have anxiety which is causing you to have fasciculations along with other symptoms." Now... on another note... one of the resident docs stated I had BFS and that her close friend (an ER doc) also had it.
