Avoiding Caffeine: Decaff Tea/Coffee OK?

HiI've been smart enough to start avoiding caffeine and only drinking decaff tea and coffee. Is this OK? I assume it is the caffeine that is the problem with tea and coffee... or are there other ingredients that cause a problem. Or are the very low levels of caffeine still in decaff enough to set the knees knocking?Yesterday I went to my favourite café and they were out of decaff... so I thought "what the hell" and went ahead and had 2 large lattes (2 shots each) of normal coffee during the course of the afternoon. Boy did I pay last night... I hardly got any sleep.--CheersJoe

Well, they say there is a little caffeine in decaf coffee and tea, but I haven't noticed it impacting me too much. I quit the caffeine...it definitely makes my twitching worse. After I got a clean bill of health I resumed drinking coffee regularly for a couple of weeks and found it increased my twitching. I'm back on the decaf and have seen a dramatic reduction in the twitches. Moderate caffeine consumption doesn't bother me too much, but I tend to overindulge.

yeh, I have. Tasted gross, but I sort of got used to it. Was drinking it for a short while prior to getting my BFS, might have to go back to it???

Its not very strong tasting dont put milk in it and its nice with lemon juice for a bit of zest ...as a night cap i add a tot of single malt whisky

I'll keep the caffeine. ;) Too much caffeine definitely affects BFS symptoms, especially tremoring. Every person has their own tolerance level, but like with most anything, caffeine in moderation, shouldn't be too much of an issue. If it affects you too much, then you're right to give it up. I however, am not willing to give it up for any amount of BFS symptoms lolol! :p :p ~*~Amy~*~

Juast bought some roobios tea bags this week, Dosen't taste real flash. Any ideas on how to make it taste better ( non alcoholic!),without compromising the benefits.cheersRodger

Since twitching is caused by nervous system overstimulation anything that artificially stimulates the nervous system will cause more twitching. Caffeine, alcohol, and raw sugars are the worst culprits, alcohol by far being the worst. When I was dealing with this I couldn't have any of those. However I was OK with tea. Tea has a little caffeine however it also has calming agents.

i tried red roobidos (from the health food store) on a whim and liked it a lot. tasted good, even plain.the effect is very pleasing it seems to put me in a good, clear mood without side effects or a crash. not like an upper, but it lifts me up somehow.I love coffee and still dabble but at this stage of BFCS it almost instantly makes me tired. Some teas aren't as bad but strong green tea gives me bad symptoms too.
