Thanks Lynn, for replying. The only part of my body that was injured was my face. I drove into a big ditch or a big hole. The atv went down the side of it and I landed veritical. I held on my whole body jerked forward I never even let go of the handle bars. And my face hit the front of the bike. Soon after that happened I started feeling all my symptoms. The mri was of the brain. Just to rule out ms. I have no numbness sometimes I have a crawling, tingling sensation on my arm and leg mostly my arm.
I hope the neuro finds something. I haven't done the mri's yet. I'm very anxious. Fran

Fran,
Ouch about your accident!
Right before my BFS started my right arm would feel fatigued and really wierd. Not sure if this was "the begining" of BFS or just a pinched nerve. After the nuero didn't find "anything" (an MRI was done to rule out MS as well) I went to a chiro and he believes I had a pinched nerve in the thoraic something sorry, I always forget the lingo. My arm started to feel better after a few weeks but I still get the tingles from time to time. The original arm fatigue is different than the muscle fatigue and stiffness that I get now. So it makes me wonder if this was the begining of BFS or if the chiro is right and it was a pinched nerve.

Lynn may be right on the money with the pinched nerve theory too. Maybe after your MRI seek out a good chiro. From all that I've been told sensory symptoms like your describing don't occur with ALS. And 7 years is a long time with no progressive symptoms. I know someone that's had ALS for a short while and he gets worse every day. I just finally got the courage to ask how he was diagnosed and found out that one day he noticed that he couldn't grasp anything with his hand. No pain no tingling or creepy crawlies, just progressive weakness, really noticable deterioration and loss of use.
I still freak out about my symptoms and wonder too but I know deep down I don't have ALS.
Let us know how your MRI goes.

Sorry for the rambling I had way too much sangria.

Fran, you can't have als after 7 years. You have had two normal EMG's. Fasciculation due to als is caused by denervation (the information between nerve cell and muscle cell is cut off). If your twitching was due to als, there would be clear signs on EMG to suggest denervation. Finally on that note, your neuro has ruled it out! He is the expert, he knows what to look for.

I am a chiropractor and I would suggest that if you haven't done so already, to find a good chiro and get an evaluation of your condition. It has already been said in this thread, but I will repeat it, nerve root compression can cause wasting, weakness and fasciculation. The accident you describe may have been the start of this.

The difference in size of your legs is difficult to comment on as it may have always been so. It is common to see this in normal people with no disease what so ever. However if you do have a nerve root problem in the lumbar spine, that would certainly be an explanation. The fact that you are going to get an MRI of this is reassuring and suggestive that the neuro is looking for a mechanical cause of your symptoms. He clearly is not looking for als.

Thanks everyone for your post. It really means alot. And god bless everyone that has these darn symptoms. They are no fun they could drive someone crazy. I'm going to try and relax a little more now. I'll keep you guys posted when I get my results. Fran
