I wen't on the Atkins diet, too. I started about 1,5 years ago and the twitching started about 6 months later (I was still on the diet). Had lost about 30 pounds by then... We'll, I got of the diet (BIG TIME
) and put on all the weight plus a bonus in the next half year. The twitching was hardly noticeable any more and now that I was fat again, I restarted on the Atkins diet (which by the way is the greatest diet ever, except...) AND, guess what - the twitching is back!! Now it's especially on both hands (ALS starts in the hands...) I can always see the twitches - but can't always feel them (ALS???) - all of the old fears are coming back. My only consolation is - that it's been a year and a month now since everything started, so maybe it isn't ALS...
I don't think I suffer from Magnesium deficiency, because I take my supplements regularly. I don't know what to do either. Lowcarb is the only way for me to lose weight, but I'm afraid to continue. Don't want to be overweight either. Somehow I feel that I'm the one causing the twitches by putting my body in some sort of an nutritional imbalance. If I could be 100% sure that that won't cause any LONG term harm, I'd continue lowcarbing, but now I feel an urge to quit - which will mean a hopelessly fat future.
