Hi Terry, I was just trying to help and give comfort . If I came across to abrupt I apologize. I wasn't trying to self diagnose you. Good luck with your appointments.

Hey, Terry. It sounds like you have already seen a neurologist, and now are waiting upon an emg. I have never had an emg myself, and I don't intend on having one. In fact, my symptoms were so consistent with what others were having on this site, that the neuro just confirmed what I already believed, namely that I was well.

We are not here to diagnose per se, although I have pronounced people well dozens of time. You see, from the stand point of some one who is not afraid, your symptoms do not seem at all worrying, and of course, are very common on this web-site. Really, it is not so much a diagnosis that is being handed out, as confirmation of what your doctor/s have already told you.

You mention that you have read a ton of post, but have a couple that you think are rare. When I first began my journey with BFS, I scoured the archives for something that would match just how my left leg and foot felt, but was frustrated by this effort. Now I can see many people with the same thing, but they describe it in different words.

I look forward to hearing from the neuro that you are in the "all clear;" which I am quite sure will be case.

Hang in there- dont worry yourself more than need be- you cannot make any conclusive diagnosis from elevated proteins- you have got to keep in mind you did not mention weakness as a symptom- youll be fine-
continue to talk with the people on this board- and it will put you at ease-

But what could that mean? I only talked to a nurse. She said it was elevated and I told her my leg was feeling numb alot, she said that could be the cause of the numbness, but didnt say anything else, just said to keep my emg appointment. Um, thanks. All that did was scare me.

Ive noticed alot of times the nurses (dependent upon their bedside manner) can be a little rough around the edges as they try to give you as much info as possible without alarming you or saying your gonna be fine- they have to be careful with what they say as to not create any false diagnosis or hope- so dont put alot of thought into her comment- of course if you ask she can only say what is possible- its quite possible its nothing! How numb are your legs ? can you still walk? do you stumble for no reason? it sounds more sensory to me- again im no doctor- just been through some of what your going through- anyway keep your chin up- if possible try to get on the list for when someone cancels alot of times you can get in earlier if your on the list-

I have heard that people with sciatic nerve problems can have a high protein level count. Do you think that is what is going on with your leg?
