Please relax, my friend. Take a deep breath and relax. Everything you're describing..... been there.... done that, for sure! When it comes to benign twitching, the calfs are most definitely the universal hotspot! Mine started in my left calf. Now, I have them everywhere! My thighs thump like crazy. I get them in my buttocks, too. Most often in the morning when I'm waking-up. I get lots of muscle stiffness and aching that can only be due to BFS. Add to that all of the numbness and tingling I get in my feet and hands, and it's enough to drive you downright crazy! Your experience sounds like my experience. I've been going through this nonsense for a long time! I'm still here and otherwise healthy! I have no weakness. I still work two physically demanding jobs at age 53. The fact that you have no clinical weakness is great! You're o.k. I'm sure that your EMG will be just fine, as was mine. I'd be willing to bet that you have BFS, just like the rest of us.... nothing more, nothing less.We all go through this anxiety trip. That's why we're here on this board. Stay here. Read-up, learn, talk to folks, listen.... you're in good company here. The head trip is the worst part of this. Don't let it consume you. My advice to you:1. Relax! 2. Trust your neurologist. Believe him/her when they tell you that you're o.k., and that your condition is benign.3. Stop obsessing about every little twitch and symptom. Stop measuring your body parts. (The human body is not symmetrical.) Stop staring at yourself in the mirror. Stop the home "strength tests." All of this nonsense is useless. It's counterproductive. It will only fan the flames of insanity.4. Believe the facts: ALS is an extremely rare disease. The hallmark of ALS is real, progressive and relentless clinical weakness. "No weakness, no ALS." Fasciculations in and of themselves (without accompanying weakness and/or a change in reflexes) are insignificant. Everybody experiences fasciculations in their lifetime to one extent or another. Some of us get whacked really good when it comes to fasciculations. Welcome to the club!I hope this helps, my friend!Deep breath! Relax. You're o.k.!!!!Johnp.s.- also remember- Dr. Google is worth exactly what you paid him........ NOTHING!!!! Stop researching your symptoms on-line. Again... you're just throwing fuel on the fires of insanity!!!!
