"Symptoms of an anxiety disorder include chest pain, heart palpitations, feelings of suffocation, muscle tension, headaches, back pain, muscle spasms and tics, excessive sweating, dizziness, digestive disturbances, dry mouth, and insomnia. Attacks can be triggered by caffeine, alcohol, sugar, B vitamin deficiency, calcium or magnesium deficiencies, food allergies, certain other drugs, and the infusion of lactate (lactic acid) into the blood."
Also, a very important note for all the ALS worriers here (taken from the same site)...
"People suffering from anxiety disorders often live with the constant belief that something bad is going to happen and often believe that they are ill or diseased when they are not."
My symptoms currently include - Digestive disturbances, muscle twitches, leg pains/tension, occasional headaches for no reason, fatigue and occasional back pain. I've had trouble sleeping at some points along the way too. I've always been worried about my health, especially since aquiring BFS. I'm probably missing some stuff but that's most of it anyway. I think that even when we don't feel worried per se, it doesn't mean that something isn't wrong with our bodies. You can will relaxation all you want, but I think that if there is an anxiety issue at hand, then treatment is the only effective option. You can't just wish away an illness unfortunately.
It is possible that BFS is just a compiled list of general anxiety symptoms. Also, most people on this site are very afraid, usually without just cause, of having a life threatening illness. I was diagnosed with anxiety disorder several years ago and started feeling better with treatment. I halted the treatment for about 2 years and was feeling good but then developed this BFS. The problem is once BFS is developed, I'm not sure how easy it is to cure. I'm currently looking into Magnesium supplements and fish oils before I go back to perscribed meds. I sincerely hope this helps some people!
