Anxiety About BFS and Cancers

OK, have a new worry and I am almost afraid to ask. In reading old posts, I have to ask this question. Are there cancers associated with BFS and now common are they? I am feeling my anxiety increase as I type this...LInda

You ask as you know the answer given by google on twitches. Yet, how common are twitches? How common is the diagnosis of BFS? How common is anxiety in "twitchers" (no matter what could be the reason behind the anxiety?).Anxiety does nothing good to you and the large studies on BFS failed to show any evidence that there is a realtionship.

Hi edadoo, I read and found my own answers. Is it true there is a correlation between PNH and thymomas and lung cancer? I could hardly sleep last nite after I read this. So, not only do we have to be concerned about **S, *S, but cancer too?? This is just too much to even think about. It really is. I was doing so well with my anxiety and my twitches and I am so just so sad this morning. Anyone else have something positive to say on this topic? LInda

As I know and what I heard from one specialist there is a connection. He is ordered MRI of my chest which came back normal. It happened in 2005.

I dont believe it. I think its a crock. By the way (As a nurse and hospice nurse ) whom's been around CANCER a LOT and knows a lot about it- I have had several patients as well as family members die from cancer- NONE had twitches- EXCEPT my last patient- he had a rare form of cancer on his "spine" he lost use of his legs etc. His legs would spasm and jerk- that was as close to twitching as you can get.Typically lung cancer can be found in a regular chest x ray and through blood work. Something as simple as a CBC.Linda Relax. Please dont let this get you too. You know I am a worry wart but...Ummm NAH UH!!! Not cancer w/ the PNH!. If this were a true case and fact ALLLLL THESE NEUROS for ROUTINE OF TWITCHING exams...WOULD screen for CANCER (lung etc). And your GP.Dont let this get you- PLEASE.Lovely  Im not trying to say that Slavins neuro was "searching" for something- but NO as Edado said ITS NOT PROVEN.

Lung cancer was not subject then. X-ray is good diagnostic tool I think. My specialist, not Neurologist but Endochrinologist, was searching for thymus malformation which is sign of thymoma. As I know thymoma is usually benign and very rare desease as well. BTW, P&H are you back? Stay with us; we are big family. Like a fan club!

lol Slavin...Not back- I was checking in on a few people and thought I'd touch down on a basis I worked close too. (cancer) unfortunately.I am here in spirit. I just find I do a lot better when I am away doing things vs. sitting here counting twitches-..Im improving dramatically!!! Just a little bit of Cognitive Behavioural therapy my friend.Lovely

Hi Lovely thanks for the reasurrance. I have since calmed myself down. I had a chest X-ray in June before my twitching started in September and it was normal and I just had CK, sed rate and CBC done 2 weeks ago and all that was normal too. So, i am putting this cancer thing out of my mind. Btw, my foot stopped buzzing too! Hurray. But, my shoulder pain is back, so who knows? lol. Thanks again for posting and hope you are ok. E-mail anytime you need an ear!Linda

Hi Raindog, thanks for the reply. I have never smoked, so your post made me feel better. I am not going to waste time worrying about this. Thanks again to all of you. Yes, we are like a club!Linda
