Ok I'm trying not to freak out. I have been having this weird poping in my ankle and snaping fealing. I went to the Neurologist yesterday for my last follow up, he said all looks great and that Again I don't have ALS. he said its fine to twitch, in fact he said it just like this so are you twitching still. Yep, he said oh thats great and chuckled. Then said I don't need anymore follow ups. I asked him about my ankle, he said I don't work on that type of problem and that I would need to see my PCP. So I went to my primary dr today, he first said one ankle is smaller than the other, I immediatly freaked. then he said the right ankle thats bothering me is just weaker than the left thats why its poping and snaping. I said OMG, does this have anything to do with ALS, he said Ashley you need to get over that. I said well you say the word weak and puts me into freak mode. He said I mean weak as In mabye you pulled it, just do exercises to build that mucle back up. As I left I said to him, so whats the difference between weak and Weak muscles. he said if you had true weakness you couldn't walk on your heals. Your just weaker in your joints ect on your right side. Ok all, please help me understand! I need some reassurance in this! Should I not be worrying at all? Please.....

You would not be walking to the doc, you would be wealed in there in a chair. The neauro was right, listen to him.I went thru this with my back, I was told by a PT that I had 80% weakness  I went running to my neauro and he laughed and said two different weaknesses. I was told the same thing by several members on here. But it's hard to listen to reality when the word weakness pops up. Glad you had a good report, go celebrate.... :D)

Ashley, go and reread your post. You have a NEUROLOGIST telling you that "it's fine to twitch", that you "don't need anymore followups", and that you "don't have ALS". But you left the office panicked because you overanalyzed what your PCP said. Then when you told him how it made you panicked, he tried to reassure you and you still left panicked. If your ankle were caused by something neurological, the neurologist would have recognized it. As far as the difference between weak muscles and one side being weak, I'm not sure I understand your question. But I can tell you that my left side is stronger than my right. Trust me, I understand you and your fears. We are a lot alike. When I read your post, I could 100% see how irrational your thoughts are, yet, I have the same doubts when my neuro told me that my emg was clear and not to worry. Our problems are not twitches or popping joints, its fear. I hope you can see that. It's more clear to me now than ever. That doesn't mean we can get over our fears overnight, but I think the first step is recognizing the real problem. Now go pour yourself a glass of wine and relax! Take comfort in what your neurologist said to you. -Matt

simple answer..your Neuro ( the guy you pay big bucks for professional opinion) is right., If you dont believe him, well I am not sure who you will believe...I dont any of us are neuros... and many of us are anxiety ridden, neurotics with hypochondria!!!..a real reliable unbiased bunch! ;) Move on.. there are more things to life than worrying about twitching and diseases that you simply just dont have..you are wasting energyRodger

Ashley, both my twin brother and I have really loud cracking ankles. My friends at work joke because they can hear me coming a mile away. A long time ago my doctor told me that the popping/cracking noise I hear is my ligament... Nothing to worry about. There's one benign explanation and I'm sure there are many more. Seriously, don't sweat it.
