ALS Symptoms: Worried and Seeking Answers

HiI've written a few times on here and thanks for all the support. My issue is not the twitching but the other stuff like pain, some weakness pins and needles etc.The thing is that i have issues with both hands.Left foot, Right hip. And a odd feeling with my face muscles. Yes, some this can be sports related and some of it can be bfs but i still worry. My question about als is how does it spread. Can it be both hands, face, feet at once or does it start in 1 limb and move on once that area is unusable. i think i have read this online when i started to research however just wanted to be sure and don't want to ask dr. google. Perhaps there are other that have reasearched more than i.Thanks guys

I have always read that it starts with weakness in one place (like a hand) before moving on to another place. I am no expert, and just like you, I refuse to look anything up.

FWIW, when I first got into this months ago I asked some actual ALS sufferers on the ALS forum about pain. I was wondering if my strange muscle soreness might be the result of deterioating muscles just getting sore easier than they would have otherwise. The three that replied said they had no pain at all associated with their weaknesses...just weakness. Re your weakness....do you mean an area feels weak or it really is weak ? If it's a hand for instance, how many reps can you do on a standard issue spring hand excerciser ?

Yes, **S generally starts with focal weakness, not widespread. It also does not cause sensory symptoms, such as tingling, pins or needles, or pain. Hope this helps to ease your mind, Blessings, Sue
