Well, I don't know exactly but here is a good start:

Per the Census Bureau the population of USA on 6/27/05
is 296,468,887 of which approx 5,000 have ALS so...

The percentage of people in U.S. with this very, very rare disease is
.0000168 % !!!! Of these people, say 10% start with Bulbar onset
This would be .00000168 % !!!!!!!! Let alone being young (19 to 30)

The above numbers should be comforting! From what I understand, it is usually familial cases that would afflict someone so young.

and even then a 19 year old would still be considered very young.
