9 Months of Twitching Away

Fellow twitchers, I've been twitching away for 9 months exactly now. I still have no weakness and can do everything that I normally could. This whole thing started with a right bicep twitch that went away after about three weeks. After that went away I noticed (probably didn't know before) that both of my calves as well as my right tricep twitched all of the time. They still do, non-stop. Since then my right hand has become rather active in the area between the thumb and forefinger. It's been doing it for about 5 months. Also, I have had twitching absolutely everywhere. Name them: Feet (constant), calves, thighs, hamstrings, around knees, butt, back, shoulders, arms, forearms, biceps, triceps, both hands, rib cage, stomach, face, neck, scalp, eyes, etc. Seriously, I don't think anything hasn't twitched. A lot of my twitches are pretty persistant, and others only happen once every few days. However, I have thousands of twitches a day, seriously. I don't think I'm getting weaker, can't notice it, and it's been 9 months. Does this sound like classic BFS? Just wondering, because I'm really down in the dumps about this. I can't seem to break the cycle of anxiety. Taking magnesium stopped my facial twitches, but not really anything else. Would I have weakness by 9 months, especially in the areas that have been twitching for the entire 9 months constantly? Any feedback would be appreciated. E

Hey E! Good to see you on the board. Your symptoms sound like classic BFS. Nothing to worry about at all. I understand your anxiety, though, because I can't seem to get a grip on it just yet either. But I'm only less than 4 months into BFS. Medication takes a while to work (up to six weeks) but I really think it's worth it. You may want to discuss options for managing anxiety with your doctor. The good news is you have 9 months and no weakness. If you had *** you would at the very least have weakness that prevented you from doing everyday things, like picking things up, using keys, or walking up stairs. You are pretty much out of the woods. Thanks twin... also... I'm originally from southern NJ as well. Tabernacle/Medford area. Right around Mount Holly. It's weird how many people from NJ are on this site. I don't know, but know I've had lymes twice... who knows. E

E, I feel like I wrote your post myself. I have told you in the past that our symptoms are pretty much identical. If you place your finger tips on the arch of your feet, does it feel like there is a snake under your skin? That is litterly how much my arches squirm around, it is disturbing!!! I also get the tremors a lot too where my arms shake. The tremors and twitching cause me to wake up a lot at night. I often get this hot sensation throughout my legs when I wake up, almost like a night sweat, very difficult to describe. Anyway, I am almost 5 months into this misery. I don't feel any anxiety though and feel that my stress level is under control. I'm sure I have told you my theory on the antibiotic "Levaquin" but I don't know if I will ever know for sure. Hope you feel better, try not to let this beast consume you brother. One more thing....LETS GO DEVILS!!!! beat the Canes tonight will ya!!!

Isnt twitching a classic sign for Lyme? Especially if you had it twice? Did you catch it pretty quick or was the Lyme in your system for a long time before treatment?I thought that is what I had, but a negative Elisa test and Drs dont think I do. So, I have no idea why I twitch. How did you know you had Lyme? What other sx's did you have??

I was treated about 8-9 months into lymes disease. They gave me doxy for about 4 weeks. that was 12 years ago. I recently (hmm, right before the twitching) got big again this summer. But... I don't think the neurological would have come on so quick because I started twitching about 1 month after I got bit last summer. I haven't been tested again because I will always show positive since I've had it once. I have no clue why I twitch, but it's so annoying, and scary.

I wonder though if the twitching is a side effect of the Lyme. Some believe that it never really goes away completely and you had it twice! How did you know you had it the 1st time? Did you see the tick ? Or did you have the rash?I didnt see either, but living in New England with deer living in my backyard, I wouldnt be surprised. Some believe that mosquitos can even carry Lyme now.
