5 Years of Calf Twitching: Update

I haven't been on here in a while either but just wanted to let you all know I am over five years into the 24/7 calf twitching. Some days are worse than others but it is not as bad as when this all started. I am still able to exercise and do whatever I want and have no weakness.I still have times when I begin to get anxious and start wondering if this is going to last forever or will develop into something worse. I use to have alot of shooting pain up my calf too but that has really subsided in the past few months. I will probably at some point see a neurologist again (last visit in Dec 2004) and maybe have another EMG just to calm my fears. I am sure my new PCP will recommend that I see one. So I am still twitching and just wanted to let you all know...

Hi SoxFanThanks so much for letting us know that things are going well for you after 5 years. It is immensely useful to hear from people who have had BFS for a good period of time and are in good health otherwise. Not that I am in a position to give you advice, but I think you are 1000% 'in the clear' as regards more sinsiter neurological conditions after such a long period of time but I can understand why you would find it reassuring to have this confirmed by a neurologist. I am 15 months in and hope never to have to see a neurologist again as long as I live, which I truly hope will be a very long time! All the bestSimon

It is actually hard to believe it has been this long. I still remember the day this all started (with severe cramping) and had no idea what was happening. The cramps lasted about 3 weeks and the twitching started sometime in between. It was extremely bad in the beginning and I would have very visible twitching every 2 seconds. It was like that for about the first 2 years. I also have had burning, shooting, electrical current, and icepick pain in my calf too. I had an EMG done in Dec 2004 and that was the last time I saw the neurologist. I get panicky occasionally and then of course start to check my strength etc. in my foot and leg. I do have twitching in my right calf also which started over a year ago. So now I have it in both. I just keep telling myself that if I can still treadmill and have no weakness I am okay...but I think I will always be worried about it. I never had twitching anyplace else and mine started at night after I had been running...so hang in there everyone. I am sorry to say after 5 plus years my calves are still twitching away but wanted to let you know I am fine and still going strong.
