Hi! I just wanted to stop by this board and say hello. I have been suffering with BFS since alprazolam withdrawal in 2004. I am 25 years old, and after I successfully got off the drug, my BFS diminished greatly. Last January, I came down with a nasty bug and was put on antibiotics which made me get A LOT of anxiety...which is when my BFS returned and stayed for all of 2009! ARGH! It is worse than the first time in that sometimes the muscle actually cramp and hurt during a twitch, especially the muscles in my cheeks and the shoulders. For me, I feel like there is some sort of stomach connection as my symptoms only act up after I eat a large meal. At that point, I get acid reflux and immediately begin to twitch and jerk. I also belch constantly. When the stomach calms down after a few hours, and the belching, my muscles begin to relax again, with some minor twitches here and there that are NOT painful throughout the rest of the day...or until I decide to eat again. I had a special Lyme tests done, I was tested for all sorts of genetic mutations, I had an endoscopy years ago which was normal, and have been tested for gluten intolerance. NOTHING! All I know is when I am less stressed, I am well again! Completely well like nothing ever happened! When I get stressed, no good! I have it pretty bad right now, but then again I've had acid reflux all night because I ate dinner late and then went to bed an hour later! Anyone else have a stomach connection with BFS?

Maybe not the same, but there are a few of us that have IBS and/or ulcerative colitis. It's possible that BFS has an autoimmune component, just like some of these digestive disorders.
