I'm new here, just registered today. Anyway, I'm a 19 year old male (20 in a month), but i have been having the twitches since I was about 13 or 14. Just wondering if there's anyone else here who's started at this age? But yeah I've had it for 5 or 6 years now and never much worried about it until this past month. Went to the doctor and had the blood tests, everything normal except slightly high protein and calcium (doc thought probably because of dehydration). I was calm for a few days but then my twitches started going crazy in my calves. Anytime I was sitting, laying, or not using my legs my calves were twitching. Of course I got really scared and my doc got me into a neuro who did the basic physical exam and chalked it up to BFS, though he did schedule me for an EMG when I'm back at Christmas break. So anyway, since I've been having the twitches for so long I shouldn't be worried, right?

Hi Paul and welcome,You have absolutely nothing to worry about. BFS could happen at any age.In addition, my neurologist claims that in some cases it's hereditary. Ask around in your family, I'm sure you'll find family members who twitch as well. Even if you don't, bear in mind that this is a very common condition, combined with your extremely young age and a good clinical evaluation – you are just fine!!! I wouldn't give it another thought.Regards,May
