Hi everyone My names Jakob and im 13 years old.....And im having a NERVOUS BREAKDOWN!!! I started twitching a while ago, before school ended, talked to my parents about it, they said it was fine they had the same thing my age! It seemed to go away for a while or i didnt notice or think about it! Then a bout a month and a half ago IT STARTED AGAIN! Just muscle twitches "Hit and Run" and i have the occasional hot spots from time to time. I have them EVERYWHERE! it started when i saw my toe twitch a few times, Ya know the normal thing. but i FREAKED OUT and it seemed to spread EVERYWHERE!!! I probably dont eat the right things and i drink alot of caffine and i stress about this SOOOO MUCH! I dont think its making it better! ive seen posts on here that made me feel better but im still soooo scared! I know i shouldn't be but i AM! ive never been to get it checked out yet and i dont know if i should! I'm not so scared of ALS because ive read things about it on here and pretty much ruled out that i dont have it! But what i am scared of is Parkinsons! I did the stupid thing and googled muscle twitches AND GOT SCARED TO DEATH ABOUT PARKINSONS!!! I know its stupid though because all i have is muscle twitches! Nothing else no weakness no trouble walking to blurry vision no NOTHING just muscle twitches....I know i shouldnt be scared BUT I Am PLEASE HELP!!!! I also have a brand new baby sister and i would be DEVASTATED if i couldnt hold due to a horrible disease! Thinking about makes me teary eyed i as wright this....please help..... :(

Hi Jakob, ok first thing to do is take a deep breath and calm down...you aren't going to have a nervous breakdown, you don't have parkinsons or anything else horrible I can pretty much 100% guarantee that...you are 13 years old young kids don't get those diseases they are diseases that older people get and I mean much, much older people than you...do you know what causes twitches in young people like you? Hormones, anxiety too much caffeine, sometimes just plain nothing causes them...lots of teenagers twitch for no reason at all..so don't be scared ok. You sound really anxious at the moment have you got someone you can talk too? The main thing I'm trying to tell you is you are ok and nothing bad is going to happen to you....did you know being anxious can make you twitch too...yep lots of things can make you twitch....and please don't dr google on the Internet you will read scary stuff that doesn't even apply to someone your age......go and give your baby sister a big cuddle...you really are ok.....best wishes to you...Shannon... :)

Hi Jakob,You sound very similar to me! Since I was very young (10) I have thought at various points I had every disease known to man. Such stupid thoughts have caused me to waste a tremendous amount of time in the 39 years I've now been alive. Please take my advice and stop being silly. Worry about getting hit by a car when crossing the street. But do not worry about neurological diseases at 13 because IT DOES NOT HAPPEN.

Jakob,At 13 years old, your body is going to go through LOTS of changes at that age. I remember when I was that young, I had muscle aches all over and other weird things that happened to me all the time. Luckily for me, there was no internet back then so I chalked everything up to my body growing up which is exactly what's happening to you. Don't worry AT ALL, you're fine! -Matt

Hey Jakob, I'm sorry to here about your twitching. I would suggest you see a doctor to ease your mind and read BFS in a nutshell here it will help. twitching happens in perfectly healthy muscle/people it's not a sign of anything malicious. I would ease up on the caffeine, I abused stimulants such as caffeine, ephedrine in high school at 17-18 when I was active in sports and believe that my problems are a result of that period of my life.

Thank you everyone i feel much better! =) but i haven't decided if i should visit a doctor or not. What do you guys think? Should i just visit one just to reassure me?

Hi Jakob, if you think going to the dr will reassure you do it, but when he says everything is ok which I'm sure he will, believe him...don't become like a lot of people on here me included who have to see the dr continually and constantly seek reassurance..then it becomes an anxiety disorder and your too young for an anxiety disorder....ok look after yourself..Shannon
