11-Month Twitch, Funny Speech Feeling

I have been twitching 11 months and I am ok with that. Doesnt bother me anymore. However lately..my speech just feels sooo funny to me. Its like it feels funny before I even speak . I concentrate on my EVERY WORD and its driving me insane.I also have had the little tongue like zaps. Actually feels like a taste bud pops or zaps (its sorta electrical) so Id say more periphial of a thing.I havent persay felt it TWITCH and I definately have NOT seen it. I am just wanting to shake this speech thing. Its like my tongue "feels" tired but I have no problem doing all the tricks. It also burns sometimes. This morning I had a and I am still experiencing a little panic attack over it and I feel shortness of breath. Its so hard to believe anxiety and the power of the mind can make me feel this way in which I hope that is all it is.Anyone experienced this? How long can it last? I know I've done it before and its another one of those things that "went away". I just keep thinking "OMG what if I cant say my next words and its like my tongue wants to freeze"-Does limb onset cause that or would that be bulbar- I know I DONT HAVE BULBAR if thats the case BECAUSE its been 11 months and I know the life expectancy of someone with bulbar. With limb onset I would think my speech would be impaired last. I was also told by people on here whom had tongue twitching and their neuro's saw it that it wasn't the type they look for in the tongue but more say a bag of worms..constant undulation. I wish when I had my EMG I had my paraspinals and tongue done but when I mentioned that after she tested my whole right said she said "your fasciculating everywhere if due to als, it wouldn't matter where the origin if its spreading thus far". So EMG clear NO ALS.You guys just help me out on this 'omg i am speaking funny or having a hard time'

dee deeI know we almost never look at this rationally but if you do, after limb and widespread fascics you are not suddenly end with bulbar onset.

Lovely!!We have not spoken in a while, hope all is well with your bub!!Honey, you know you are fine!! You have had your emg, you have been told by a well respected neuro!! Please believe that!Sandra

Lovely, this is what i posted on the als forums : Anxiety can cause so many issues : - Swollen tongue feeling-Difficulty swallowing-Persistent yawning-Feeling nauseus / dizzy for no reason.-Sometimes a overactive gag reflex in combination with the nauseus feelings-Constant feeling that one side of your tongue is going to one of your cheeks.-The feeling that your tongue does not fully co-operate with you and it will seem like you talk with a slurred speech-Hoarse speech, or you crack more often.. this is usually only perceived and not real-Your voice seem weaker. -Emotional instability; you may cry or laugh in situations that are not even remotely close to being funny or sad. -A lump or 'pressure' in your throat. -Burning / crawling / itchy tongue sensations. With the fear of having bulbar ALS, you will find yourself constantly standing infront of a mirror and doing silly tongue 'agility' or strenght tests. Every tongue is assymetric.. The right side of my tongue is more width then my left side.. maybe 1 CM or so.. and it always touches the right corner of my mouth when i stick my tongue out. Sometimes when i do these silly tests multiple times in a row, my tongue starts to feel tired and i 'fail' the next test, which results in even more anxiety. You will ALWAYS find dents if you look for them. I have dents from my teeth aswell.. this is normal! When i slightly stick my tongue out, i can see 100 littles twitches because the muscles are constantly in relaxed / used state. Do not get freaked out by this! Not convinced? Use Google image and search for human tongue and see if you can find one symmetric tongue But since you have come on these forums because you are worried ( by twitching and ALS ), i assume that you have got some underlying anxiety. Most people with BFS think they have bulbar after they got a clean EMG and the anxiety created these symptoms. Conclusion : Anxiety can mimic bulbar IF YOU FOCUS on your tongue, jaws, swallowing, chewing.. etc.. because these systems are normally run on a subconscious level. Have a nice day :)
