    Strange Vibrating Feeling in Crotch

I experienced that vibrating sensation for about a month two years ago. I did a lot of research on it and couldn't really find out much except that it's caused by "minor nerve irritation". I don't think it has anything to do with muscles. It will probably go away pretty soon. Hope so. Twyla

    The Mysterious Flu/Cold After-Effects

Lori, Your story sounds a lot like many people on the board. The sensations and symptoms you describe fit with BFS. I suggest you spend some time reading some of the archives. I believe you will find a lot of answers. Also, avoid researching all the nasty diseases on the web, you will drive...

    Experiencing Internal Vibrations/Trembling/Humming?

Hi ariza_z2021 & Dale: What I was referring to is more like an internal vibration and maybe you think of it as an electrical current. I don't feel any tingling or numbness with this and it is usually a full body perception. Dale: Thanks. I did read Aaron's post when I first joined and he does...

    Nonstop Faciculations - Seeking Advice

Florian, please do not worry. Many, many people have "non-stop" twitching in their calves. It is so common, and nothing to worry about. Your symptoms are probably caused by stress and anxiety. Try to relax and don't worry about them. Twyla

Sciatic Nerve Irritation - Progress Report

Kael wrote: About four months ago now, I started having some cramping in my left calf - eventually the sciatic nerve felt irritated. I saw a chiro with no relief and progressive weakness in calf and toes. (strength has returned here now!) Kael, The fact that your strength returned is a very...

Shymedic Thank you for your last informative post. Folks, remember Shymedic is a physician, and we should all take his advice about being selective in believing what we read on these forums. Twyla

Breaking the Cycle of Fear and Anxiety

Flash & Pole, You two missed the point that atrophy in ALS is very obvious, as Jarrod said.....he was amazed at the difference between his two hands. You guys are looking for subtle differences.....examining your hands in different lights, etc....it sounds like a bad case of anxiety to me...

    Normal Muscle Twitching When Tired

Marion & everyone, I've done a ton of research on this and from what I read ALS twitches are concentrated in one area, at first, and are constant, (they don't come and go) and persist for more than days or a few weeks. Later in the disease, as more muscles are involved, fascics bcome more...

    Normal Muscle Twitching When Tired

Pam, if you can induce your twiching by hiting a muscle it's not a bad sign. I can also do it sometimes but only in my calves. When I hit the muscle few times my calf "answers" with one or two twiches. This kind of reaction is normal, especially in calves and when muscle is tired. I tested it...

Breaking the Cycle of Fear and Anxiety

Kerri wrote: P.S. when did this guy see a doctor anyway Well, here is the first mention of seeing a doctor in Jarrod Cunningham's story. This was after he quit the rugby team because he knew his performance wasn't up to par, but he had no idea of what was wrong with him. There's no mention of...

Breaking the Cycle of Fear and Anxiety

Flash19 wrote: I'm NOT making this up to scare people. Hey it scared me terribly because I'd not long started twitching when I read that article. Flash, I didn't mean to suggest that you were "making it up to scare people"....just that you didn't have all the facts. However the article did...

Breaking the Cycle of Fear and Anxiety

These were his first symptoms. Nowhere did I read that he complained of BFS symptoms. Later the article states that a doctor noticed atrophy in his hands, and only after some time was twitching noticed by his doctors. Nowhere does it say that Jarrod himself complained of twitching. Please...

    Investigating a Suspicious Coincidence

In her posts on the Braintalk ALS forum recently she doesn't mention the "atrophy" she so graphically described to us here. This is something that would be hard to "imagine"....so was it real, or was she deliberately misleading us? Here's what she wrote Now, I noticed when I looked in the...

    Carolmaries Story: Fabricated or Not?

I hesitated before posting about Carolmarie, and the fact that it looked like her story was a fabrication. I really hated to accuse someone of lying, but at the same time she made me very angry by causing so much anxiety here, and on Braintalk. Now I'm think about new people who come to this...

    Obsessed with Throat Issues

Over the past two years I've read more or less identical stories from so many folks here and on Braintalk Neuromuscular. I guess it's just the way stress affects people. Hope you're over it soon. T.

    Fasciculation: Normal or Not?

Here's something from a book in our library, Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine - Neurology section (1998 version) "Fasciculations occur at times in most normal individuals, and unless weakess is also present, they are seldom on any significance. Fasciculations are normal in...

Yesterday someone posted on the Braintalk/ALS forum under the username "Luvmycat" with a story that sounds very much like Carolmarie's.....almost identical really, including the exact date her symptoms started, headaches preceding, home state, etc. This person is convinced she has ALS, but...
