What Annoying Hotspots Have You Faced?

My most annoying hotspot has been going on for the last 3 weeks. It is my right elbow--right "in" the joint (like the funny bone.) It goes all day and all night, is visible and really strong--and because it is near my funny bone there is a constant pain, tingling associated with it. I've seen an...

    Managing Anxiety and Twitches

Hi everyone. Thanks so much for your concern. I could not find the time to post over the weekend (I have 3 kids and seldom have a moment to myself on the weekends). So Dr. Barkhaus did not give me a diagnosis. But he did say that at this time there is no degeneration and therefore no ALS...

    Managing Anxiety and Twitches

Hello all,I have not posted for a while because I have been trying to keep my anxiety in check--mostly successfully. For those of you who don't know my story I have constant all over fasciculations (scalp to little toe and every inch in between) Since Feb 2008 there has never been more than a 2...

    Twitch Dominance: Any Experiences?

I have recently noticed that I have about 5-10 twitches on the right side of my body (legs, arms, hands, feet, deltoid etc.) for every one I have on the left. Does anyone else have a "dominant" side of the body for their twitches? What does this mean? Somehow it seems that this would indicate...

    Exploring ALS Symptoms and Causes

Thanks so much for all the support. It helped me make it through this day. I even forgot about the tongue for an hour or so this afternoon while out and about with the kids. This site is a godsend--thanks to all of you.Karen

    Exploring ALS Symptoms and Causes

Hi all,As many of you know, I have been posting here for about a month. I have constant all over fasciculations--the longest interval between them is about 3 seconds. I was given a clean EMG and nerve conduction on my limbs in June and right after that started tongue fasciculations which have...

3 Weeks of Constant Muscle Twitch

My longest constant fascic is my tongue which has been going for 2 weeks straight. It is not a just a tremor when I stick it out. The surface twitches and undulates constantly when at rest--on the top and side.

    Constant Tongue Fasciculations: Dr. Barkhaus

They cannot see me until August 1st. My husband is switching jobs so we won't have insurance coverage until September 1st so I am going to have to wait until then. The fascics remain constant but I have no weakness at all (biked 6 miles today and spent 2 hours in a pedal boat on a small lake)I...

    My Twitching Journey Begins

I twitch constantly all day all over but especially in my tongue, arches, calves and biceps. For the past three months I have been trying to count to 10 without feeling a twitch and have not been able to do it (but I did get to 8 or 9 a few times). Now I cannot count to three without one. Which...

    Twitching Fingers and Toes

The only other place besides my tongue which twitches constantly is my feet (toes and arches. )My right foot is worse with my two smallest toes moving out to the side on their own thousands of times per day. Very visible now that it's warm out and I'm often barefoot or in sandals.

    Constant Tongue Fasciculations: Dr. Barkhaus

Thanks so much for the support, everyone. :) I am feeling better--although my tongue is still jumping. My husband and I moved about 20 boxes of books last night--and I carried them up 2 flights of stairs! No weakness here--just a weird and distracting twitching problem. We'll see what Dr. Barkhaus...

    Constant Tongue Fasciculations: Dr. Barkhaus

My referring doc did a nerve conduction and emg on both legs and one arm. There were no abnormalities. She said to let her know if things changed or worsened so I did when the fascics settled in my tongue. This is when she referred me to the ALS doc.Karen

    Constant Tongue Fasciculations: Dr. Barkhaus

I emailed my neuro to tell her that the tongue fascics are now constant. If I stick out my tongue and then relax it the entire surface is covered with little twitches. Every time. Plus I feel it twitching at all other times too, in addition to every other inch of my bodyShe responded that she...

    Calf Twitch Unexpectedly Persists

Neither does mine. My calf twitches while I am driving when I KNOW that I am using the muscle to control the gas pedal. Also, my tongue is fasciculating constantly--not intermittently.I am a wreck too!

Results of Neuro Test: Twitching Worse

Hi everyone--On June 19th I saw the neuro who did an emg and nerve conduction in both legs and one arm. I told her that I sometimes had tongue fasciculations but she didn't see any that day. My tests were all normal and she didn't schedule any follow ups with me. I sort of thought that the...

    Undergoing Neuro Workup: EMG/NCS

Hi all,I finally saw the neuro yesterday. She did all the usual tests in her office--walking on tiptoes, having me push and pull against her, reflexes, etc and saw nothing wrong. She then said that she recommended a full workup. She asked if I could stay and have an emg and nerve conduction...

    Fasciculations Growing Out of Control

My fasciculations are getting worse and worse. I have tried dozens of times to count to 10 without one somewhere and cannot do it. They are constant--getting stronger and more persistent each day. My worst time of day is morning before I am out of bed. I even feel and see a few "rolling"...

    How Many Twitches Per Day?

60 minutes in a day x 24 hours. I would say 10-30 twitches per minute 24 hours a day (I cannot say for sure they go on all night but they are the last thing I feel before going to sleep and the first thing I feel when I wake up). So 20 x 60 x 24 = around 30,000. Maybe it's not that much but at...

    Exercise and Twitching: Enquiry Required

I just returned from 90 minutes of yoga. My balance and strength seemed better than usual and I pushed myself to all the most difficult poses just to test my strength. I just don't think I could have ALS and show absolutely no decrease in muscle strength or balance or flexibility, right?

Pesticides & BFS - Info Requested

I heard or read somewhere that BFS can be caused by pesticides or organophosphates. Does anyone know anything about this?My first severe bout of BFS occurred while I was working at a large metropolitan botanical garden (in the office, not directly with the plants). I was in my early 20s and...
