Happy new year all! Its been years since Ive been back here. I started twitching, 2007 from memory and was in a terrible state at the time. Long story wont bore you with it but mum had ALS and all sorts of fears about my twitching consumed me. Once I hit rock bottom I started working on my...

    coping with BFS at night

I think the key to you getting better is to work on your anxiety. I had the same problems as you back in 2008/09 but am now fully recovered. Looking back it was my reaction to the twitching the anxiety that was crippling. I seeked helped from the anxiety centre (look them up on the web). It took...

    Medical Specialist Visit Success

I am sorry it is so uncomfortable for you at this moment.... There is one thing that sticks in my mind and that is the intensity to understand. Many things in this life we cannot understand. A pain I know. But in some ways I wonder if just reinforcing this stuff in writing about it kind of makes...

    Conviction and Divine Intervention

inzTwoToneTunes, this is one of the best posts that I have ever read on this site. The mind is very powerful! I screwed up my life over the fact that I was "convinced" I had ALS and sorts of other diseases. The power of suggestion and persuasion is enormous and it equates to a massive amount...

    Diagnosed BFS: Twitching Update

I think the hardest challenge with BFS is overcoming the fears and worries associated with it. If you've been given the all clear by your neuro you have to somehow get over the fear that there may be something wrong. Your continued worries and fear fuel your twitches. They key to recovery is...

    Tingling Feet: Anyone Relate?

I had the exaxt same thing. You're nervous system is overstimulated and can produce these sensory symptoms. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Be indifferent towards them and you will find that these sensations will settle down.

Mysterious Mini Twitches in Left Calf

Can I just say if that if these twitches are barely noticeable look at it as a postive thing. Don't analyse it as perhaps a symptom of MND. If you have no weakness maybe its signal that you are getting better. Trust me, I have recovered from my twitching but I went through a lengthy phase...

Relatives with MND & BFS: Testing?

My mum died of ALS one year ago. the neuro I saw offered me further testing for myself, not because there were potential problems for me but because he could see I was a nutcase! There was no evidence pointing to the fact that there was ALS in my familiy. Who the hell would know if there was...

    BFS After Flu -Time Frame?

Hi Christian,I started twitching August 07. I worked on my anxiety over this and have completely recovered from it May 09. I had counselling for ages and I practiced diligently what my counsellor told me to do. for me the key to recovering was believing that I didn't have an illness and that...

    Welding Fumes and Parkinson's

Thanks so much for posting this. This is so unrelat4ed to BFS for me but it may explain my dads condition. He is 80 and very frail. He was a welder for 55 years and he displays many of the mentioned symptoms, but not twitching thank goodness. His doctor even once said to me that his walk is...

    My Worries of Developing ALS

I'm speaking purely from my own experience. My mum had ALS and I kid you not when it was first suggested that she may have MND I remember her neurologist saying to me that she was "fasciculating". I said to him "whats that?"and his reply was "twitching". Those words MND and fasciculating...

    Twitching Body: No Explanation

I understand that there are other causes for BFS. I'm not trying to suggest otherwise and I do understand that twitching can create or exacerbate anxiety. I just don't want anxiety as a trigger for twitching to be dismissed because this is what happened to me.
