Welcome to the BFS Research Project!

Hi John, I applaud you very much for your efforts in trying to get more research completed for BFS. It is disheartening when the medical community makes you feel like a cast-off...however, I do think there are times where they know there's nothing they can do to make our physical symptoms go...

Here are more prayers coming your way! Also many positive thoughts that this is (yet) another benign condition. We're all here for you and look forward to your update-- Amy

    Not convinced it's BCFS

Hi Mari, I think the header to your post speaks volumes...you're 'not convinced', even after the clean EMG. Search around this site, and read as much as you can about the EMG test. If it's clean, you can totally erase any ALS worries from your mind. Please try to rejoice in that fact and...

    Tongue Twitches and BFSers

Keep reading those posts! I have (yet!) to experience the tongue tingling, but I wouldn't be surprised if I get to sometime in the future. Like you--I'm sure it would raise my anxiety levels back up. That just seems like the oddest place to twitch....but then again, rememeber that the tongue...

    new member

Jenn, Glad you're here! You're so right about the mind game aspect. After all the clean doctor and neuro exams--it all comes down to conquering the mind game. After the reassurance of my EMG (which was performed only for the sole purpose of easing my mind), I credit this support board 100%...

    Twitch Length and Neurologists

Some neurologist mentioned that large twitches are bad. I sometimes get twitches on my thighs, biceps or shoulders that are 4-5 inches long. Is that bad ? Anyone else ?

    Empowered to Fight Anxietys Havoc

Don't forget--even if we feel like we aren't anxious...or if we feel relieved by test results, anxiety can still wreak havoc. Physical symptoms from anxiety (related to BFS or not) can present themselves for a very long time and in very strange ways. That's why it's such a hard 'disease' to...

    Beating the Twitch: Abdominal Discomfort

Hi Gang, After a year, my days of twitching seem to be almost behind me....I just get an occasional thumper here and there, and (knock on wood) I haven't had a hot-spot in months now. I now have a lovely new symptom of constant abdominal discomfort. It's such a vague discomfort, that it's...

A Poll for Every member-Thyroid/Vasectomy/Hormone Connection

Please pitch in, here. A friend of mine had twitch problems in connection with a thyroid condition. Couldn't take synthroid. She finally took Armour (natural product) and it cleared up. Here's the deal--Her DR said it couldn't be picked up in any bloodwork! So, I'd like to start a poll--Men &...

    Overcome Tongue Fasciculations?

Don't worry about your tongue--and don't look at it in the mirror! I did this, and I swore my tonge was fasiculating against my will....and then I asked my husband and my son to stick their tongues out so I could examine them. Turns out, holding your tongue still with no movement is difficult...

BFS: Has It Lessened Over Time?

Has your BFS gone away, or at least lessened? If so, what was the timeframe? I'm new here, with what I figure is BFS, and after only a matter of months, the shaky & twitchy business is bugging the heck out of me.(Although I'm also grateful it isn't getting any worse!)

    Skin Elasticity & Aging - 30 y/o

I swear, I think the funky skin elasticity and denting (and loss of mass too) is due to plain aging. I'm 30 now, and I notice a huge difference in my skin elasticity. I think collagen levels must have something to do with this. I also notice more 'muscle definition'...more in the form of...

Overcoming High Anxiety: A Parents Story

Not to worry-- Very high anxiety indeed. Your comment about loving your kids so much rings very true with me. I never had issues with anxiety until I had kids....and then I went into full blown 'worries' about things like 'what if I'm not here to watch them grow up'. It's a brutal mortality...

    Hyperventilation syndrome?

Yep--I've heard of this too. In fact, I've been to the ER twice in the last year with 'panic attack type' symptoms, and they discharged me both times with the diagnosis of "hyperventilation syndrome". I agree that many of us probably suffer from this from time to time....but I'm not sure if...
