Twitching & Cramps: Seeking Reassurance

O.k. I need some reassurance again. As I have already described in another thread, my bodywide twitching started about five weeks ago, together with some cramps. I had a neurological exam (which I didn't find very thorough, though) and a clean EMG on the frontal right thigh (my neuro didn't think that EMG was necessary at all; so she only did one "for your peace of mind") two weeks ago.Since then, the character of my twitching has changed. In the beginning I experienced a combination of big single thumpers mainly in the legs and some ordinary "30 second"-twitching mainly in arms, buttocks and trunk. Now the twitches in my legs have changed to a fast vibrating or buzzing type of twitching (or maybe what some people describe as "ratcheting"), especially in the frontal right calf, when I move the leg forward (of course I immediately freaked out, because I remembered the "in relaxed muscles"-thing). Other twitches seem to have turned into something that almost feels like electric jolts (they even hurt in way electric jolts would do). Plus the vibrations have started to take place in the feet and in the tongue, too (funny enough, the tongue thing doesn't really bother me, probably because I give some hours of lectures every day and don't experience any problems with my speech).Has anybody made similar experiences or is this something I should worry about? Sould I see my neuro again or perhaps another one (for a more thorough clinical exam)?!

I don't think it's anything to worry about. Many of us have weird, sensory symptoms. Mine wax and wane. I'll get buzzing feelings everywhere, especially on my face and scalp. I have had the sensation of water running down my leg, some numbness/burning sensations, etc. All in addition to my twitching. Seems the norm for BFS, as it's not just our motor neurons that are messed up for some reason, but very often also our sensory.

hi there,i agree with Gloria123..i think its all part of bfs..i have buzzing in my left leg and also have the feeling of water on my skin..just last week i had the feeling like bugs crawling on my scalp,it was the strangest feeling ever..i posted here at the time for some advice and apparently its quite common.things like this will come and go,i hardly twitch these does but still get the water sensations daily...

Oh my goodness, I've totally had the bugs in the scalp feeling. Like I had to go look in the mirror to make sure there wasn't a spider caught in my hair, it felt so real.Mitra

Hello grapepie and Mitra, thanks a lot for your reassuring comments! So most of us seem to experience vibrating and buzzing. I never had the "water feeling" so far, but everything else has been familiar to me during the last weeks. However, just one question: has anybody experienced that the hotspots of twitching have turned into hotspots aof buzzing and vibrating? This seems quite strange to me and has unfortunately reminded me of statements like "In *** it is usually a fine, invisble twitching". What speaks against any connection to ***, though, is the fact that I had really big thumpers in some of the areas where the vibrations take place now. I don't think, the dreaded disease would behave like that.
