Neck Pain and Swallowing Issues

HeyI was going better when 3 weeks ago I started feeling aches in my neck (in the front and in the back). Then swallowing was kind of painful sometimes. And now for 2 weeks I have some swallowing issues. I mean I can swallow anything but there's always a feeling of some food stuck in my throat, the small pieces. It's very annoying since the food can stays for several hours and I can't do anytghing to clear my throat. And of course, it is scary even if I read that swallowing issues in ALS do not look like this. It is more water that go in the wrong directionI don't know what to think. If it is some kind of GERD not linked with BFS, then why do I have painful neck? And if is linked to BFS, then anyone had this before? HELP !!

Hi there, this looks like a famous symptom in bfs. I had this 'feeling of food stuck in my throat' for 2 weeks together with tongue issues, very annoying. Hang on, you will be fine.

Thanks for your reply. In your case, was it just a feeling or there was real food stuck in your throat? For me it is not just a feeling. Each time I take a cookie, I feel the little crumbs stuck. I hate this

Hmmm... it's been a while for me, but I do recall that it only happened after I ate something (so it happened a lot to me :) ) So it could be that there was actually something stuck in the back of my throat.

Hiya Fjordian! :D) Stephane, I have had this many times as well. The food stuck in the throat feeling is called Globus sensation and is very common. Also, you could also have something called tonsil stones, nasty little bits of bacteria that develop in your throat and hide in the folds of your tonsils. They can actually irritate your throat and make it feel like something is stuck in there, maybe also causing the pain in your neck. When I wake it, my throat feels the worst too, like I have a friggin baseball stuck inside of my throat..I hate it.
