As LeAnne said, he clearly describes his weakness as being with his voice, a well known symptom of Bulbar Onset. If someone complained of having a weak voice , not a hoarse voice, or a croaky voice, but being one where they had problems projecting their voice, raising their voice, to the point where it sounded like a whisper, accompained with widespread fasics, I'm sure a Neurologists interest would be at least peaked, and possibly thinking ALS from the outset, as a possibility. It's not a secret that fasiculations can occur prior to weakness, at the end of the day, its why everyone of us has been worried, or continue to worry, but the fasics are occur for a specific reason that would be picked up by an emg, clean emg - no reason to worry.I have no reason to doubt that Dr. Ben Johnson had ALS, he was diagnosed by two doctors, there are a very small minority (almost non existant) of cases that do a) stop or b) stop and go into remission, a very lucky few.
