Tested at Campus Clinic

So I'd finally had enough and went to the clinic here on campus. I saw a nurse practioner who seemed to know her stuff. I told her what was happening and she gave me a few nuerological tests. Example: resist fanning fingers (she tried to put them back and then pull them apart), squeezing her fingers, stand up close my eyes hold my arms out, checked all reflexes, trying to pry my fists apart, checked my eyes and a couple others. she said she sees no need to refer me to a nuero. this gave me piece of mind but ive been having this constant twitch in my left forearm for a week (had it for a few days already when i went to see her) and its a big hot spot. it drives me nuts cause ill have an episode in the morning, it goes away, and then comes back later, and then goes away, and then comes back. i also get pain in that wrist area, elbow, and upper arm along with some eletrical shock sensations, pulsing feeling and a weak feeling. but if that hand and forearm were weak wouldn't she have noticed that immediatley when she checked my grip and finger strength since the muscles of the forearm control the fingers and hand right? By the way the muscle that is twitching is the one on the pinky side of my palm a little down from my wrist it goes thump...thump thump thump anyone had that? Sometimes its a pretty hard twitch and sometimes its small, not the bag of worms which makes me feel better, but it just looks like someone has that muscle attatched to a string inside your body and they pull it and let it go lol. well besides that im beginning to get better here with the help of you guys. as i said its been 5 months twitching for me and still no weakness i notice.so i was just wondering if anyones had that twitch and if the quick neuro tests would have shown SOMETHING 5 months in cause idk im pretty sure they would. my mom who is an RN said she thinks so.nickagain you guys are the best this website has helped me so much. you are all awesome.

I think so too, after 5 months. Im only 2 weeks into this and if she did those tests on me, she would find nothing because I lift weights. I doubt my strength would be sapped that fast ... even though I am dropping things now and hand feels weak where im twitching. Have the same pull-string thing with my forefinger and thumb. Goes all night.

I would assume you'd have weakness by now if that were the case. Read the Steve Gleason story if you can stomach it. It was a matter of a couple months and he couldn't do a pull-up. I feel so bad, I wish there was a cure. :'( I feel for him & his family. Ugh

But be carefull when reading the story! Short storied only tell that he had been experiencing upper body twitching in chest and shoulder and half year later he had other problems. But the long stories tell that he has been finding twitching first end of summer, and by labour day weekend in USA (half september) he couldn't do 3 pull ups. That means when fasciculation started he was allready deep in disease and any neuro exam at that day would reveal severe weakness.Just wanted not people get scared.
