BFS: Body Symptoms Comparison

Clearly with BFS we have a wide range of symptoms all over our bodies. Some people get more twitches and others seems to be plagued with sensory stuff (tingling, numbness, etc). I sort of wanted to take a survey (for my own sanity) of all my BFSers experiences with one side of the body perhaps being worse off than the other.I have twitches EVERYWHERE.. that is the one thing that reassures me this is BFS and I am okay. I also tend to get BOTH hands falling asleep and tingling in BOTH hands (ulnar nerve area). But some other symptoms seem to want to JUST pick on the left side of my body for some reason. Heaviness, weakness, and aches are all in my left arm and left leg while my right feels fine. I have had some knee pain in both legs but other than that my right side seems totally fine. I also feel that the skin on my left arm stays particularly hot (sometimes feels like it is burning) especially in my hand. I also have some finger tremors in my left hand (mostly the ring finger unless I take a hot shower then a few more join in). I just want other experiences with symptoms more on one side of the body. It will make me feel better and HEY, isn't that what this forum is for? :)

Hi there and welcome,To date, all of my concerns have been about my left side. That's not to say that I don't twitch all over because I do, but my shoulder pain and weakness, left side...fear of hand atrophy, left side. And most recently tightness and achiness, left leg. Not that these things don't still worry me because they do, but I can say that it's been a year and nothing has changed. Also, keep in mind that your biggest enemy is your mind, and that it can play awful awful tricks on you. Meaning, you worry about one side of your body, so, where do you think the twitches happen more? You got it. Never under estimate the power of what's inside your head.

I have them migrating, but also with certain one side preferences. Like - this month we twitch on left side! this week on right one! those five weeks would be dedicated to pians in left thumb...ooo. looks, the right one comes too! This is freaking BFS circus, so it works.

Mine have always concentrated on the right side. All of it...twitching, vibrating, shakiness, you name it. I do have some symptoms on the left side, but it is really nothing compared to the right. Frances

I have had unilateral cramps and stiffness for two months, now. Even most of my twitching is on the right side. I've had ulnar nerve sensory issues as well, but it all started with hand cramping, and even now my fourth and fifth digits are constantly stiff but not always tingling. It's hard to tell what's from real ulnar neuropathy and what's from BFS where symptoms intersect geographically in the forearm and hand, but elsewhere it's obvious. I will say this, too: it all feels entirely different from when I was first diagnosed 3 years ago, which is either a testament to the unpredictability of this condition or of the devious nature of my unconscious mind.

I would say for me sensory stuff has no preference, but twitches clarly have left side preference. The longest twitches were on the left, but now 2 days I have right calf twitching 24/7, so I don't know if it will migrate to the right or it is an exception. I have random twitches on both sides however.

I twitch 90% on my right leg, and my left is pretty much left alone. I think this is super common on here. I remember freaking out about that when this all started, and was quickly reassured that this is normal.Mitra

My symptoms are probably 75% on the right side, currently mostly the calf and foot. But I do get weird stuff on the left and in the arms/shoulders

I read somewhere that asymmetrical neurological symptoms are a sign of danger. That’s nonsense; all my BFS symptoms have a preference side, as well as the people above. And there is no sign of degenerative disease.

Some of my symptoms seem to favor one side. Also, 7 years ago at my first neuro appointment I recall telling the nuero my twitching, in general, was noticeably more frequent on one side.

I want to answer on this one, as I'm a total one sided person. In general. :) I have had most of my symptoms in just my right side. (I'm left handed, FYI). And that concerned me. Greatly. I was quite sure that made me different from the normal bfs'ers. I hated thinking I was abnormal, even in the abnormal site. ;) so....know this.....I'm three years, and change into this. I have had everything seem to want to center on one side. It's. Okay. I'm a happy, functioning, exercising, "normal" woman, in spite of this random fact. I have no idea why it settled moreso on one side. But.....I run, hike, lift weights, lift groceries, lift babies, and live with it. No issue. Three years plus in. :)

Twiching mostly on the right side.Perceived weakness in arm and hand-right side.Rubbery leg-right side.Hot-spots in foot and calf-right side.Eyelid twiching-right side.Drooping eyelid when tired-right side....
