Finger Twitching - Random and Unexplained

my muscles started to twitch back in march. recently my fingers have started to twitch. one day my left finger will twitch. the other day my right pinky will twitch. and so on. it seems to be random.it affents all my fingers at different days. the twitching last anywhere from 1-9 seconds. the twitching are all inward (my fingers move towards my palms). i have at least one finger twitch per day. another thing is that my left thumb tends to twitch when iam going to sleep. it happens before i go to sleep and in the morning. Iam scared about young onset parkinsons. is anyone going or has gone through this? and how did you get treatment? my doc says maybe beta blockers with work

Maybe one of the vets will chime in but I'm pretty sure this is typical with BFS which can occur anywhere. I agree the finger twitches can be the scariest.

Are you taking any perscription meds? Sometimes they cause this. I was on remeron for 2 days and my fingers did the exact same thing. Freaked me out! As soon as I got off the med they were gone.

The beta blockers might work, but you might get other unwanted side effects. Plus, if you take them a long time and then get off of them the twitching might come back even stronger. I don't know. If you can handle it without meds it would be better, but if it bothers you that much try the beta blockers.

i dont know...something inside me tells me its parkinsons. my thumb twitches before i go to sleep. just know my thumb twitch two times about 4 seconds from the first twitch to the second twtich

My fingers do funny things before I fall asleep too. Sometimes it feels like my thumbs lift up into the air on their own. I don't think that is associated with parkinsons. I get bodywide twitching and finger twitching as well and have been cleared so I am sure you are fine :D)

The finger twitches/movement you describe is pretty common in the BFS world, and something I can personally relate to. Couple that with body wide twitching and that puts you in the same boat as us. Nobody in this boat has Parkinsons.

I've had finger twitches like you describe...they're among the most annoying. They seem to wax and wane..sometimes my hands are just awful other times they're nearly normal. BFS sucks.

the weird thing is the my thumb fully bends in on its own. then does the same thing 2-3 seconds later. its more like a involuntary movement. I dont know.

I definitely get what you are talking about... If i had more time I would upload a video for you, if it will help you I can upload it. My index finger shakes side to side in the video.

If it can twitch it will sooner or later this from a veteran. The other side to twitching is cramps, a few weeks ago my left hand seized up, my fingers clawed and I could not voluntarily unclaw them, had to straighten those wayward fingers with the other hand and they just clawed up again. It was not pleasant but it did not worry me overmuch, it was just a sign to take it easy and relax.

And of course I had been working very hard on my allotment cutting brambles, so it was most definately a case of pushing my muscles harder than they were accustomed to go.
