Progress on EMG front...

I posted my EMG results a few days ago. I finally got a call back from my neuromuscular specialist. Just like the EMG neuromuscular specialist had said, no sign of ALS, despite the polyphasics, insertional activity, MUPs, etc. He said that it was overall a "very good" EMG, that he was "not impressed" by anything on it, that there were no signs of active denervation (he shrugged off the insertional activity as no big deal), said the EMG was "very reassuring," said that in 2 years the EMG is basically the same as it was 2 years ago, and again laughed off the idea of ALS (with an actual chuckle. I think he is amused by my hypochondriac behavior). Now he wants to do a muscle biopsy and an MRI of the spine. The EMG suggests radiculopathy but he says he has a gut feeling that the MRI won't show it and that there's not really a radiculopathy. Also said if there is, he sure as heck isn't going to recommend operating on it. He was more interested in doing the muscle biopsy. Mostly leaning toward a possible muscle disease/myopathy, but if it's not that, I think he is ready to diagnose as BFS (he mentioned "BFS"). So all in all, very relieved today. I've been followed by two neuromuscular ALS specialists and one neuro fellow, and all of them agree it's not ALS. In fact, the EMG neuromuscular doc used the words "definitely not ALS."Wjjw, maybe you can re post the "jump for joy" photos from yesterday LOL!!! Thank God.
