Switching to Wellbutrin - Side Effects

Hi everyone, I just recently switched my AD of Celexa to Wellbutrin due to horrific sexual side effects :( . For the 1st wk I was doing really well but now in my second week I have noticed an increase in twitches, insomnia and also 3 mornings this week I have woken up to my bed feeling like it was shaking but it was me actually having internal tremors. I never had this w/ my ssri. Just hoping someone has experienced this or has some helpful insight. I am about to give up on AD but I am so afraid of sinking back into the dark abyss.Blessing,Shelly

Shelly,Wellbutrin can cause seizures (I promise I'm not trying to scare you). I took Wellbutrin and had about 2 minutes of complete blurry vision where I was seeing triple. I continued to take it and didn't have side effects afterwards, but I know seizures are a potential side effect. I really wouldn't mess with this one and would call your doctor right away.Mitra

Yes, I actually had a seisure while taking Wellbutrin. Never had another since. After the seisure I slept for about 24 hours and it took me awhile to kick the shakiness, nausea, and vertigo it gave me. By far the worst experience with AD for me. It works really well for some people, but it doesn't sound like its agreeing with you either.

I think it is because it works with your dopamine receptors versus your seratonin receptors. I don't know.. Something about Wellbutrin where it's a fairly common side effect. Scary stuff!!!

Thanks ladies for your advice....I will call my dr. on Monday as he is out today. I was really hoping this would work for me. Do either of you take AD & what are you experiences?

I currently take Zoloft but am transitioning right now to Savella for fibromyalgia. Zoloft works wonderfully for me but some on here have had bad experiences. AD are a very individual thing, but Zoloft has worked best for my anxiety. I also had good relief from Effexor XR, but coming off of it was brutal. Best of luck to you finding something that works well with as few side effects as possible. Its truly a process to find the right medication, but in my opinion it is worth the trial and error. I used to take Lexapro and it worked well for me on my anxiety (this was several years ago). I have to say I had several side effects - weight gain (why they put me on Wellbutrin along with my Lexapro which made me lose the 10 pounds I gained on Lexapro and more), teeth clenching, insomnia and more... But, it was worth it at the time, as it really helped take the edge off. Still debating whether to go back on.Mitra

Again, from a professional perspective...insomnia and internal restlessness are common side effects of WellbutrinI imagine increased twitching could happen toonone of what you describe sounds like a seizureand seizures are very rare with WellbutrinI have been prescribing Wellbutrin for many years and have never had anyone have a seizureWellbutrin does not sound like the right medicine for youin general it is good for depressionbut not so good for anxiety which is common in BFS

Does anyone have any experience with natural remedies for anxiety and depression like St. John's wort or SAM-e. I have read they have little side effects, just wondering how well they work?
