Waking Up with Jerks and Pops

Does anyone else get major sleep jerks in the morning? Also, my legs, arms, and especially my back pop like popcorn as i lay in bed. As i try to fall back asleep I get a body jerk every minute or so that will move my hand or my shoulder and occasionally I will get a jolt sonstrong that it nearly sits me up. Anyone? One more thing... my fingers go numb very easily in the morning. Sometimes its my ring and pinky finger and other times its my thumb to middle fingers. So frustrating.

When I wake up I usually lay there for a few minutes and then I start to feel random pops all over. I don't have the sudden jerks now but I did while falling asleep in the begining of this. A lot of the time I wake up shakey and off balance.I have mentioned somewhere on here before that my hubby has these random jerks at night while falling asleep. They don't seem to bother him at all. He sleeps throught them for the most part. Maybe try some warm milk (yuk!) or some sleepy time tea and and a hot bath before bed. It may help to relax your muscles :)

Hi BobJazzyI know that jerk! in the beginning of my life twitcher It's occure to me very oftenly, but with less anxiety they disappear. But the numbness in finger when I awake or in the night, I've that oftenly ! 2 days ago when I awake my face become white when I saw that my pinky finger don't wanna move and I felt more paresthesia at the same place, but I shook my arm and my finger become normal.I thing the cause is about a pinched nerve or something like that.take care

Thanks Kovitch. I get the numbness every day when I wake up. But I get it in both hands and even my toes. Sometimes its my pinky and ring fingers and other times, its the other three. I can't figure it out. -Matt

I have the same, no every morning, but there nights where I do not feel my 2 arms, or my fingers, like they are dead. Very strange !!do you have a irm? it can be caused by disk problem in your back.

BobJazzy: I have numbness every second day during night and morning in one or the other hand or arm. Sometimes my first 3 fingers, sometimes last 2 (that is why this is NO carpal tunnel or ulnar nerve problem). I also have tremor at night on top of the numbness sometimes without numbness...Last few days I was having a day rest and my hands were becoming tingling at day. looolll...I hate night and mornings, and I can just listen to my twitches the most. The one in my left foot is there to kill me, I know it, it just doesn't go away. It pops violently at the same spot for 3 days but not every second. Like every 20 seconds. I HATE IT!!!

mornings seem to be the worst for me. Both arms feel asleep often before I get out of bed, and my legs always ache. I also have the 'jolts', when I am at my most relaxed

Yes, I've had this and I remember sparksense posting about it too. I am on benzobuddies.org and the thought there is symptoms like this are due to the body's early-morning rise in cortisol combined with a drop in GABA. They call it "morning anxiety." Still, it's worth mentioning to your neuro. if you haven't already. They are sometimes interested in symptoms like this upon awakening and may want to do an EEG if they haven't already.

maaaaaaan i used to get jerks so much, i wouldnt be able to sleep for hours because i kept jerking in the early stages, but that a symptom that with me has gone down loads with my anxiety decrease :)

From 5AM-7AM this morning, I woke up about 12 times to my body jerking. Each time it was a different limb. My arm will jerk first, then 10 mins later, my abdomen, the 10 mins later, my ankles jerked. I don't have any anxiety about these body jerks anymore as I can start to doze right back to sleep but they are so strange. Its like something in my system is so out of whack.

Oh man, my boyfriend hates it when I fall asleep first.. I jerk so bad when I'm nodding off to sleep I constantly wake him up! Also any slight loud sound when I'm drifting off causes a kind of flash to wake me up... This only happens when I'm absolutely shattered though. I'm constantly waking up with numb extremities, usually my hands. Sometimes my feet & toes go numb as well. I still feel in limbo @ the minute as I haven't been to a neurologist or had any forms of testing for anything, apart from "it's all anxiety" from the GP. I'm currently backpacking and don't have access to health care, but will b demanding some tests when I get back home as I'm torturing myself with..oh it's definately this disease or definately that disease! I've been twitching since Dec 2009 so I'm hoping it's benign...
