Twitching for 3 Months: BFS?

Hello,Can BFS present as a twitch in the same location for an extended period of time? Many of the personal stories I've read on here reference widespread twitching over many areas of the body that resolve within a few days/week and then move to another location. My twitch is primarily localized to my right index finger and thumb. It has been happening almost daily for three months now. I'm confused whether a long term, localized twitch/tremor can be BFS? I also have the feeling of internal tremor in the hand and sometimes in my feet. Thanks!!

Oops - I just posted a reply on the original thread -- here it is:I doubt that twitches being in the same place over a period of time means anything. I just had a rather irritating twitch in my right eyelid that lasted over two months. Unless my other fasciculations, it stays in one place and is more vigorous than the usual twitches. I wasn't worried about it though. Why not? Because over the 10 years I have had BFS, the persistent twitch visits me one every couple of years or so, but always goes away in the end.A couple of years ago it was a muscle next to my left elbow -- that seems to last for an age, and was particularly aggravating at times and lasted several months. Another time it was a muscle in my lower back. Not quite as bad, but it went on for a good while too. They are more persistent and noticeable than the usual twitches, which makes them more annoying, but they are just another part of the whole BFS family of ticks, tremors and twitches (the three tees?) that us BFSers are blessed with :D)So, to answer your question, there is nothing in your experience so far that rules out BFS. Still the most likely option.

I have a persistent twitch on the side of my right foot for months now. If it was anything bad, I don't think I would be able to walk on my toes and heels. You are fine.

Only 5 years right lateral side of leg/calf maybe 100+ per minute 24/7 Left leg too but 50% less so only 50+ per minute 24/7 :p

What you are describing is a hotspot (which does not contradict widespread twitching) I have hotspots all the time. Just a few examples: tongue - 3 months NON STOP, ankle - many months, deltoid muscle - several weeks non stop, jaw muscle (that's my recent) 4 months now. These could last weeks or even months. Classic BFS.

Regarding hotspots... I was always under the impression that hotspots have to be non-stop. Is that true? I know my deltoids (both) went through a period where they both went haywire every few hours for a while. It wasn't non-stop, but definitely a few times daily. Was that a hotspot? The shoulders haven't twitched for a while, but every so often I get a hit and run thumper in the same spots now.-Ant

this i completly normal with bfs: my left foot twitched for 13 months, every second 24/7. it is just a twitch, nothing to care about.

Thank you all!! Same follow-up question as Ant - Do you still consider it a hotspot if the twitch occurs in the same place for an extended period but is not 24/7? For example, it keeps happening in my index finger and thumb, but only for 10-15 seconds at a time and may happen just a few times a day?

Thanks so much for that response Carlos. That is really something I’ve been wondering about for a long time. In searching this board before I joined, it really seemed like most hot spots were non-stop, 24/7, but it’s great to hear that our “luke-warm” spots are also technically hot spots!I definitely had these types of recurring twitches in both shoulders, which have now subsided for the most part. Every so often I get a random one in the shoulder, but it’s not nearly as often as it used to be. It’s crazy how this things keeps changing.-Ant

Well, i think mostly of the people here know that hotspots very well....i had a 7 mounth nonstop twitch in my forarm in the past and it drives me crazy. But like everey twitch, it gone away....or to another place  Have a good time, florian

Aah yes, the unstoppable twitch. I have them in my feet, especially the right, for years now. My reliable places of twitching, but not unstoppable, are near my elbows, triceps, and of course the calves. I can always count on these areas to twitch a lot during the day maybe even continual for a limited amount of time during a particular day. My calves for a couple of years used to be 24/7, but now they've moved into the reliable place of twitching.Hot spots can be normal for anyone, even those who don't have BFS, but more so for us folk. Rest assured it's most likely normal.

Hotspots come and go and other just stay 24-7. I know my right foot under my big toe is constantly twitching. My calves are pretty bad too but they stop sometimes. I also get other ones around my body. I had one under my rib cage that last about a week. I read this over & over on the board. It is so common and really think it's all part of BFS.

I have 24/7 twitching in left foot for over a year now! My right foot seems to be twitching a lot now too. I get them all over as well. Some stay for weeks and some for months. My new one is behind my knee. Anyone get that? Seems real weird to me.

Regular twitching in calves-every single day since start of BFS ( nearly 4 months and counting) . Also now some regular twitching in muscle just above elbow on both arms-most nights ( when muscle at rest) and cheeks.

I've had a twitch in the belly of my right thumb for almost a month now.It isn't non-stop but I would say it twitches probably 500 times per day. Particularly noticeable because it moves my thumb.Definitely a hotspot.:)
