Terrifying Throat Twitching Experience

Okay, so last night I'm driving home from work and the weather is really bad and so is the traffic.My throat had been twitching pretty much on and off all day, and this was really scaring me. So, the traffic freaks me out, I have a panic attack and this twitch in my neck flies up my throat and mouth and the whole back of my tongue starts twitching.I have NEVER had this happen.I'm so scared these are bulbar symptoms, and my face seems to be twitching more often than usual.Ugggh. I need to know that I'm okay somehow, this is getting out of control.

Sounds like anxiety to me my dear. Especially where you said you had a panic attack and it really went off. I get the same when I panic. makes my symptons hit the roof!

I know what you described is scary. I have tongue, face, and neck twitches regularly. I would try to take note of whether these symptoms only happen when you are extremely stressed. If this is the case, then altering your behavior or mindset may be your solution. I had to go the med route because these symptoms (and others which really do cause a type of pain even though they don't effect function) happen regardless of my state of mind.

Yep, sounds like a panic attack which made the twitching worse. Many of us get the neck and tounge twitches. Nothing to worry about.

I have had the very same symptoms. When I was at my worst, my whole head was in motion. In more detail my neck, ears (inner), cheeks, forehead, eyelids, scalp, tongue were going. I have found that there really is nothing new under the sun when it comes to BFS. You are fine!!! Keep telling yourself this repeatedly over and over. I know it sounds silly but healing can only begin when you believe that you will come out whole on the other side. Start planning (at least 60 years worth) and making goals. ) Tom

Since you live in Cleveland, I can sympathize with your driving anxiety. I had an marked increase in anxiety and symptoms too as I was driving home from my job in Columbus yesterday and the snow was piling up. Got home, took a xanax and was much better. Don't like to use xanax as a crutch but there are times when it (BFS) just starts to pile up and I need a release.
