hello-- my hand feels weak between my thumb and index finger. this freaks me out because i know that this happens a lot in ***. i also have a bit of joint pain where my finger meets my hand on that finger-- any insight ??? thanks. this is on top of my twitches everywhere ( tongue too )-- i have seen neuro-- says bfs but this is a new symptom. flipping out.this hand weakness happened a bit yesterday too-- it didnt bother me this am-- but now it is again-- i read that a woman on the other site that i shouldnt go on, said that her weakness progresses in the day-- she starts out stronger in the am-- oh dear... this is just scary scary scary

you scare the hell out of me! I was just getting assured that I was fine now I read this. My thumb and index finger and place between it hurts too, over 2weeks now. Should I be worried, I'm freaking out!

When I press my index finger and thumb on each other it hurtsalso the place between thum and index fingerIsn't that the same as papillon58 has? Does als start at thumb and index? I'm really scared now I was almost past this I still can turn keys with it, but lifting something with this two fingers, like a plate really hurts

hi there,I feel the same thing= pain in index finger, thumb and between it, also twitches more but still open jars and locks so I guess nothing to worry aboutto papillon58: STAY OFF THE ***websites, your dx is BFS - is nothing to find there for yougrBart

FreddieTheFox--I am sorry that I scared you. I was just asking about something that has scared me. I guess I could describe the space in between my thumb and index finger as having migrating weakness. Someone had told me that that muscle was a common spot for it to start and then I saw it on a board that I should not have been on. I too can still use it-- but i did notice that when I was filling up a tea kettle with that hand ( not my dominant hand ) that it began to shake. Sorry again. I am a nice person but I guess that the downside of asking questions is the potential to scare other people..

I have been getting a similar thing for 2 days now too. I have a funny feeling between my index and thumb. If i test it, its not weak but it feels heavy or strange. But I have had a lot of weird things happen to me over the past two years, most all of them seem to come and go. I am hoping this symptom to will go soon! I would describe it as you had said...migrating weakness or migrating cramps. Cramps usually last 3days to a week and then go away for many weeks at a time. I haven't had as much of the weakness as the pain/cramps but it has happened. I get migrating lump in the throat sometimes too...it will feel strange to swallow for a few weeks and then goes away for several months? I don't know but from reading this site it sounds like you can get a lot of weird symptoms in BCFS. What makes me feel better is the frequency that I hear the same weird complaints that I have on this site....you might find one als patient that has a similar symptoms/sign as you if you search really really hard...but you will usually find 20-30 people on bcfs site with those same symptoms. Dents, vibrations, odd weakness/cramps/difficulty swallowing that comes and goes....you see it all over this bfs site...where it is very uncommon on the other sites.

feels strange when I make a fist, a bit stiff like i can't close it all the way, but i can. I only had this two-three days so hopefully it goes away soon. Started in my index finger then today a little bit in my thumb. I notice it a lot when I write with a pen. I have tested myself (which i usually don't do anymore) and no obvious loss of strength. I can resist in all directions about the same. I tried lifting a bag flexing/extending my finger and adding weight until I maxed out and it was the same max weight on the other side. I also play guitar and although it feels really weird no loss of coordination, speed, strength. I think (hope) it is just a painless cramp/spasm of those muscles...seems to fit with bcfs. I wouldn't worry too much...people get all kinds of weird but similar symptoms. Remember BCFS is a real disease with real underlying pathophysiology...it is just poorly understood. So it should be reassuring that we are all experiencing these things even though there is no clear explanation. It is a disease that produce odd but a similar clinical picture. Like I said...these symptoms are the theme of this forum.... and rare other sites. BCFS must also be common.... we are both complaining of the exact same symptom within a few days of each other?! What are the chances of that? And it happens all the time here. Anyway, hope you all feel better. Stop worrying...we are far more likely getting killed on our way to work and we dont let the anxiety of that possibility incapacitate us?!

Definitely sounds like Carpal Tunnell syndrome, I know what that is like, have had it in both hands and one is permanently weakened by it.Can be helped by splints, physiotherapy or in severe cases an operation.
