With this condition I keep waking up way too early which I know is common, so I was wondering if anyone here has found anything else helpful for that because my overnight Neurontin is just not cutting it anymore. I'm getting overtired and frustrated. Thanks in advance for any help!Sir_Trouserz

I used to use ativan, but became worried about the addictive properties of that, even though the dr said that at such a low dose he was concerned. My psych prescribed trazadone, and I take 1/4 to 1/2 of a 50mg tablet about 2 hours before sleep. I am sleeping very well now and don't wake up too early like I used to. The only problem is when I take the 1/2 table, I have a bit of a hangover the next morning, that's why I cut back to a smaller dosage.Cindy

Sir_Trouserz,I take valium, (because of my "sleep jerks"). It lasts longer in the body than xanax does, (with xanax I wake up early as well.) I hate to take anything but will wean myself off as I have done in the past when this relapse is gone. Hope this helps. Denise. p.s. I also drink teas designed for sleep at times. Take Care.

Hi Sir_Trouserz,There is an anti-depressant called Avanza (well that's the name in Australia) that is excellent at a very small dosage for sleeping. I know some people that take 1/4 of this tablet to help woth sleep. It's quite sedative. Worth asking the doctor about. I used when I was really in a bad way and it helped me tremendously. It's not addictive, however being an anti-depressant you'd have to gradually come of it if you decided to stop.Maria

I cannot recall ever having had anything like regular sleep. One night I can sleep in for ten hours, for another get by on five, and sometimes much less. I will go to bed and wake after two hours, stay awake most of the night and then have difficulty getting up in the morning.

I take .5 mg of ambien, it works for me and there is no hangover or grogginess in the morning. It is sleep on demand. I have always been an insomniac and it has helped me. Just be carefull, they say it is non-addictive....but I think it is psycholigically addictive. It is sleep on demand and that makes it much to easy, rather than wait for sleep, to justtake an ambien. I tried lunesta, but it left a horrible taste in my mouth. Which I wouldn't have minded so much it it had worked :) cornelia

Hi Sir_Trouserzcan't really help on this one, although it has been proven in Japan that a power nap of 45mins through the day can restore you strengh and mental state. Not more then 45 mins or this will distrupt you night sleep. Also a change in diet and eating times may help too. Do not eat more then three hours befor sleep.Take careChris

Hey Ang:Try some Benadryl if its compatable with the Nuerontin it will help you. But don't snort it or free base it or smoke it,or hot knife it, just take it in pill form. I know your getting bored with just the standard way of taking medication.Lefty C

I'd vote for Mirtazapine at 7.5 mg (1/2 tab). It takes about two weeks of taking it for you not to feel a bit groggy the next day. The only bad side effect is an increased appetite.-Dave
