Mystery Buzzing in Foot Arch

Hi all. I've had a rather bad day: a major migraine, whiny grad students and a new--for me--symptom: rhythmic buzzing in my right arch. I've had buzzing before and I know from my time here that it is, to say the least, extremely common. But I haven't found where others have had this appear in a rhythmic fashion. It buzzes for about 1 second, pauses for about 5 seconds and then buzzes again. Occasionally, it will stop for a minute or so but then it re-starts and keeps this rhythm. It's been doing this now for about 6-7 hours. I'm considering dropping a cinder block on my foot in the hopes that the pain will block the buzzing  ! I had been enjoying a quiet phase over the last couple of weeks re: twitching that came to an abrupt end today (coincidentally, I think I'm on the verge of getting the flu), so this was a really big disappointment.I'm not in the "this is it, I'm done for" mode but am curious if others have experienced buzzing in this fashion. Annoying just doesn't begin to describe this sensation.Anyone else ever get this?On the B6 front, I've been taking 100mg at my neurologist's direction for nearly two months now. He directed this for carpal tunnel symptoms. It may be coincidental but despite today's outbreak, my BFS symptoms have really scaled back. (The carpal tunnel isn't as bad either). I had a couple days back in December when I twitched over nearly every square inch of my body but compared to the period before starting the B6, things have calmed down quite a bit. We'll see if today's outbreak is fleeting or the start of another BFS Mardi Gras. Thanks, as always, for everyone's time. I'd appreciate some feedback on the buzzing samba going on in my foot  .Mark

Yes unfortunately I get this sensation. When I first started twitching I didn't get this sensation just real big thumpers. After some time the buzzing began and is still with me.Did your neurologist put you on B6 because you're deficient in it or did he just think it would help? I'd certainly like to give it a go. Maria

Hi Mark, I had a week where my left leg was buzzing on and off all week and I felt the same way. It's very annoying. Then a week later it stopped happening as much. I can't begin to guess the 'whys' and 'whatfors' so I just don't, but a lot of times my symptoms kick it up a knotch before a bad cold or flu and then settle down again after that. Or maybe it's just those whiny grad students getting on your last nerve. Time will tell....Take Care,Sir_Trouserz

Hi Maria and Sir_Trouserz--Thanks for your replies; Maria, I was surprised to see your buzzing symptoms in another post! Freaky thing that you answered my question on another section of the site probably as I was writing it here! My neuro prescribed the B6 as a way of treating the carpal tunnel symptoms; I had no blood work done during the visit (blood work from August was clean across the board) so I can't say if I have a deficiency other than to say that countering any such deficiency was not his intent. Today, the rhythmic buzzing has given way to more "normal" twitching though late this morning, a weird twitching/tapping sensation that I've had for brief periods before has returned. I can feel it like it's on the inside of my arch--literally inside it; I can't feel it with my hand and in fact, when I place any pressure there with my hand, the weird feeling either ceases or actually seems to appear elsewhere. I've felt this far less frequently on my left foot but this is about the 6th or 7th time this part of the BFS carnival has come to town on my right foot! The buzzing and tapping really drive me up the wall; fortunately, they seem to stop when I go to bed and while I tend to wake up often at night, I don't detect them then either. But shortly after becoming active in the morning, the *&^%$# feelings start up.Sir_Trouserz, either my luck is holding and I don't have the flu or it's holding off to really wallop me, but I seem fine today--I thought perhaps there was a connection between the return of my symptoms and possible onset of the flu. The grad students generally create pain elsewhere, if you know what I mean ;) . Still, I had a twitch-free visit to my daughter's this weekend, so I guess I should count my blessings and try to ignore this infernal twitching/tapping. Maybe it's my inner child trying to get out! :) .Thanks again for your replies; this stuff still baffles me.Mark

Those buzzing things that last about a second then go away for a couple of seconds, then come back periodically. Ah, yes. Have them all the time. I'd like to hear some cogent explanation of why these things are rhythmic. I read somewhere that these are called "phasic" in nature, and relate to the firing patterns of neurons in our brains, but nothing better than that (that I could understand). They are annoying for sure.-Dave
