SOB & BFS: Help Needed!

Hi! I was wondering if someone could help me?? For the last 4 months, I have be very aware of my breathing. It seems that I am SOB, but I'm not sure??? When I walk I feel fine, almost better than when I bend over to pick things up, raise my arms to dress or wash hair, or little chores like making the bed. I'm not sure if I'm out of shape, if this is a NEW BFS symptom, or if it has something to do with my heart situation (on meds for inappropriate sinus tachycardia). Just wondering if someone has experienced true SOB and could explain if this is what I'm experiencing? Like I said, when I walk I actually feel better. I am out of shape probably the worst I've been in the last 4 years. Thanks!

I have had SOB for at least a year. Mostly constant at this point, worse while at rest.It feels like I can't take a deep breath but it does not prevent me from doing what I need to do.I have had a complete work-up for this;chest x-ray,pulmonary function testing etc.and as usual with BFS there where no findings.I have been living with BFS for nine years and the symptoms are varied and many and seem to come and go.Some never return and others are persistant.I also have a problem with tachycardia and palpations and take medicine to control my heart rate,at this point the heart issues concern me far more than the twitching.I am also out of shape and am working at getting back into shape in hope that it helps w/the breathing. It certainly can't hurt!

Hi Charlene,Thank you so much for your reply. It's nice to know you're not alone. How long have you had the tachycardia/palpitations problem? Mine just started out of blue in September. The SOB accompanied the other two, so somehow they are connected- I believe. Again, thank you for sharing your experience and I wish you the best in your exercise program. You've motivated me! Like you said... it can't hurt. Take care.

I've had the palpations since I was a teen, but the tachycardia started suddenly about five years ago after going for a five mile walk.It lasted into the next day so I sought medical attention. The palpations have gotten much worse and they seem to happen in cycles. I may go for weeks without them, then something sets it off and I have them for weeks non stop.It can be quite frightening. Caffeine seems to make it worse so I avoid all caffeine intake.

Hi Charlene. What medication do you take for your palpatations? I just got a pacemaker put in about a month ago. I was put on Atenelol (25 mg.) once daily and man do I feel like I've been run over by a truck about 3 hours after taking it. I am now taking one half at bed. Just curious as to what you are taking.ThanksAmy

I get significant shortness of breath, but then I do have asthma and it has certainly been exacerbated by the cold weather we have been having lately.I notice too that my shortness of breath relates to my weight, I am not overweight by any means, but it has been creeping up again past the twelve stones (168 lb) mark and whenever it does that I find my shortness of breath is worse.

I take Atenelol 50mg first thing in the morning. I'm always tired even after a good nights sleep and the Atenelol may play a part in this.It can also make it difficult to lose weight because it lowers your heart rate.Last summer I worked out on the treadmill 45min a day and could'nt lose a pound, but I felt good anyway.

First I was told to take it in the day due to my low blood pressure. They wanted me to take it while I would be up and moving around. I just couldn't tolerate it. It is working out taking it at bed. I am functionable, but I yawn all day long! I am not a tired type of person, I never take naps.....heck I'm a preschool teacher. I can't be tired. I guess I can tolerate the yawning....I feel blessed to be here! Amy
