this was one of my first symptoms very early on. i still get them above my knees to a lesser degree.

the 1st one I got shot from the top of my left foot up to my cheek. almost knocked me down.

I have had a few like that. One time I thought it blew my foot off! That hurt baaaaaad. Mostly I get the quick sharp ones in the hands and feet that last about a half a second. Actually those kinds have been happening alot lately.

Thanks everyone. I'm glad people can relate to the shooting pain down the whole body thing. No one I've talked to can understand what I'm talking about!

43RichyThe43rd, I've never had an MRI or any investigations. However, I have suffered (and been diagnosed with) prolapsed discs in the lumbar spine area on a couple of occasons several years ago. These caused excruciating sciatic pain, but this most recent pain went right to my upper back, above the sciatic nerve. Could this still be lower back related?

J,

I get them every once in a while. My right arm will get a sharp pain(like the electric shock) that takes my breath away. It will usually happen 5 to 10 times...then go away for another month or so? I also get them in my left thigh.....have no idea about either...I just put it down now to BFS.

I am sure that is the case with you also.

I've been having shooting pains from my elbow down to my wrist. This has been happening just the past few days. Thought I was having a heart attack, but it's my left arm.

"BFS is one of the first symptoms of an underlying anxiety disorder."

I'm not arguing with you, but I've had an anxiety disorder for more than 25 years. The BFS just started in early 2007. It was not "one of the first symptoms."

YMMV.
