Hi everyone
Your newest member here ... Phil here from Burlington, Ontario. To whomever created this site - a huge THANKS!
I have so many questions, and seem to be finding all the answers here. Fan-freakin-tastic!
I've been suffering for almost 2 years. Some days are great, some excruciating. Finally saw a neurologist this past week. After all the poking, prodding, bending, ballet, smacking, and squishing, he said "I'm quite sure you have Benign Fash-something-or-other Syndrome".
Alas, he didn't spell it. It took me a couple days of googling to figure out what the heck he said. There's a gazillion and one "benign syndromes" out there! (note to self ... the next time some doc spews out some multi-syllabic word that sounds like a tribal village in sub-Saharan Africa or some illicit activity George Michael wouldn't want to be caught doing in a Beverly Hills restroom, grab the doc's pen and prescription pad and make him print it out ... legibly - not in "doc-scribble").
I digress ... in a "eureka" moment, I found it - F A S C I C U L A T I O N. (note to self #2 - try to get the cell phone number for the Scripps Spelling Bee champ and program it into speed dial #1, then explain to folks why they got demoted to speed dial #2).
Anyway, my neurologist hit the bullseye. I finally have the answer I've been seeking for months and months. I have absolutely every symptom of BFS. It's a veritable certainty I have it.
When I stumbled onto AboutBFS.com it was as if the planets had aligned, the moon was full, Big Ben was striking high noon, and the Boston Pops were reaching their final crescendo at the finale of their annual Fourth of July gig - all at the same time. (that would be "simultaneously" per that smart-behinded Scripps kid).
I've already done a bucketload of bloodwork (just how much blood can the technician take out of you before you collaspe into a bloodless meagre pile of skin and bones anyway?). My EMG is scheduled in a couple weeks.
So, I'll be hangin' around here quite a bit. Thanks again for being so generous of your time, and open with your experiences. It's all going to be phenomenally helpful!
