Trouble Opening Left Eye After Sleep

So this is my newest and scariest symptom - I have a lot of trouble opening my left eye in the morning - just can't do it - it flutters and struggles, and then finally after like 10 seconds, it opens. I cannot recreate this during the day - only happens after extended periods of sleep. This started last week, and has happened every day. I am petrified. Any insight would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks Jenn for your response...
Nope - not twitching - it flutters from the effort to open it. And it doesn't twitch during the day either. It's so frightening.

I am wondering if the fluttering is really a twitch or a muscle jerk like we get in are other muscles. As George said he has had this and still gets it. I would also do a search on the board under eyes and see if anyone has had this or maybe someone else will answer this post that has had this.

Seeing that it only happens in the morning I would not be to concerned,if it was something sinister it would not just do it in the morning. I know that is real easy for me to say as you are very scared but alot of us have symptoms when we first wake up and I am thinking this is one of your BFS symptoms that you get upon awakening. I am also wondering if this could be some sort of nervous/anxiety symptom. Jenn

I've read on here and experienced fine shaking throughout my entire body only upon waking. It have never experienced this during the day. Maybe your shaking/fluttering is only happening in your eye?

thanks all - really great to hear feedback. To be quite honest, I don't really understand what is happening with the eye when it happens because I'm just waking up... BUT it doesn't seem to me like the fluttering exists before I open my eye - it happens as I exert the energy to open it. It is as if the muscle is not ready to work. And as hard as I search, I can't find anything similar to this experience!
George, did you experience this upon waking too?
