BFS Buzzing & Twitching Update

Hey guys,

I've noticed that the buzzing comes and goes even if other twitches are constant. I had a buzzing in my leg for weeks when BFS first started but it eventually stopped. The 24/7 Calve twitches also seemed to have diminshed although they are always present. Good ole' BFS, always has a nice surprise for us everyday. After a while you get tired of paying attention to the symptoms and you'll basically forget about them for the most part.

I too have "buzzing" or vibrations....it is a symptom that comes and goes...really freaked me out in the beginning....I was standing barefoot on my livingroom floor and felt a vibration in the ball of my right foot...thought the furnace was malfunctioning and ran down to check it but then noticed that the buzzing continued on the cellar floor as well and when I would pick my foot up off the floor. The vibrations I get are typically limited to a small area...usually the bottom of one foot or a small patch in my calf....it might persist for a day or so or may come and go over a period of days....doesn't freak me out anymore though...I just chalk it up to the weirdness that is BFS and go about my day.

43RichyThe43rd,

I do not get the buzzing. But when I was in the middle of my panic atack stage, I would only get them at night right about when I was falling asleep or I would wake up with a panic attack. It was pretty freaky.

Hope that helps.

This is how mine started 1-1/2 years ago (the twitches didn't start until 1 whole year later). The internal vibrations are a bugger...it's freaky to wake up about 10 minutes after falling asleep with your whole body shaking. I used to shake my husband awake in a panic saying "feel me, I'm shaking!!" Sometimes he could and sometimes he couldn't (but after being awoken from a sound sleep I can't really go by his interpretation). I had a whole bunch a crappy tests...sleep studies...EEG's (for FIVE days straight- awful). Then, they tell me it's anxiety and I should do something about it (this was a top Boston neurologist) . Never sounded right to me that anxiety alone was causing that. It did get better but I still get it on rare occasion. I NEVER heard of anyone with it until I found this site which was great to finally know I wasn't the only one with this weird symptom...

I should note, I also get the buzzing that people described above but that's not what I'm talking about here. I'm talking about waking up with my whole upper body shaking (like if I put my hand on my shoulder I could feel it). It would freak me out so much that I couldn't go back to sleep. Now I'm a little used to it I guess but I only get it every 6 months or so.

HI,

Mines as Shelley describes it as well. The other vibrating in muscles is a bit different from the "wake from sleep" tremoring. Although I do get those as well had a buzzing foot for a while yesterday.

Internal vibrations for me i get at least 3 times a week, sometimes I have them for three weeks straight. It is like a motor running inside you and it causes me to have more tremors. I get these all the time. My first experience was when it woke me out of a sound sleep and I mean I was shaking so bad I thought there was an earthquake, it was like an internal seizure. This is also through my whole body. This is not the typical buzzing on a certain spot of body. This is my worst symptom. It went away in the beginning but has came back to me and I believe it will always stay. I asked my Dr. about this the other day and he said this is BFS, not to worry. I hateee these though but I am trying to convince myself that it is my own personal massage now.. Hope this helps..God Bless..Jenn

P.S. Look up my old posts you will see me mention this alot..

I had these in mid 2004, about three months after all of this started. These are annoying, but they can/do go away.

What turned the trick for me was when they prescribed propranolol (inderal) for my "tremor". When I was in full blown panic mode, my hands and arms were constantly shaking like leaves "underneath" - sometimes visible, sometimes not. I could never really get my body to fully relax (of course, I now know having been in a much better place for some time now that I was still wound up and anxious like you wouldn't believe - even when I was sure I was having "good days" and past the anxiety...)

Anyhoo, apparently in addition to being a blood pressure medication, propranolol belongs to a family of drugs known as beta-blockers, because they work to quiet the beta-something nerve receptors, and thus is a widely used drug to treat tremor (as in ET for example). After 3-4 weeks or so (hard to recall now), by golly those unbelieveably annoying internal buzzes and vibrations had completely subsided. My tremor seemed to be better too, but honestly I'm not sure how effective this was for that (irnoically enough).

I'm not saying anyone should race out and demand it to get rid of this stuff, as you need to watch your BP, and other side effects could emerge (muscle soreness, for example), but it may be something you want to talk with your docs about.

Just touching on a post above, I also couldn't figure out what was buzzing when BFS first started. I was asking people around me if they felt like the floor was buzzing and they were all like "huh?!" It was pretty ridiculous.

I also think it is anxiety - I seem to be finding that my neck and jaw can become very rigid as I fall asleep - relaxing these seems to help.
