Brain Functioning in Stress and Panic

Hi Yoddah,

This is a standard response that I'm working on to help new people.

Stress and Shock will lower you brain's normal functioning level. Numbing you.

Anxiety and Panic will increase your stress level, and you get more panic driven fears.

I'm going to ask you the very simple "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?" question. ;)

Think back a little bit, before you started finding your symptoms, was something fairly emotional going on in your life that could have triggered everything through stress and anxiety, shock or panic? Once this vicious cycle gets started, the positive-feedback process constantly feeds on the anxiety and panic driven fears that are created by the stressful and fearful symptom. We get stuck in the anxious and fearful loop of new stresses and fears.

Are you panicking? Try to Relax and Eat well. Lower your personal demands upon yourself by keeping your daily expectations of yourself to a minimum, until you get things under control. Simplify, Simplify, Simplify, or "keep it simple."

I hope this helps.

Eric

Yoddah, the sequence of your twitching symptoms sounds very much like mine did early on. It is nothing to worry about when they seem to settle in one place for weeks at a time. I had a twitch in my eye that lasted over a month, then the other eye went for weeks, then it was back again in the first eye in two different places upper and lower lids...maddening... My left hand is still a hot spot. When my twitching began, it was very strong there for months.
Also tensing a muscle or exercising it seems to get the nerves all worked up and they twitch much more after.

It's all normal in BFS---even though it feels quite bizarre...you're okay.
