Tremor in ALS: Experiences

If you go over to braintalk you can find several posts with the topic tremor in the ALS board. I once read through them since i had this symptom.
I dont know whether its only in the final stage, but from what i have understood the dont really complain about it. Since other things are more serious. They just mention it to check up with others if they have them also.
My tremors where extrem for about 3 weeeks. Since then they have gone almost completly away.
One thing that most be said is that tremors have there origin in the Brainsteam. This part of the brain is said to be responsible of the tremors. Like in PD. From what i know the @@@ is also somehow in the Brainsteam manifested (i could be mistaking here). So i really hope that this is also a normal part of a benign condition such as BFS

If you have gone to brain talk, you will find that tremors are the most common complaint among people with conditions such as BFS and other things. Essential tremors are extrememly common, and more importantly, benign. Many people have reported that tremor is not a symptom of ***, but may be experienced late in the disease- someone with *** may have complained of a sore tooth, but that doesn't mean it is a symptom of the disease

I was going to post on tremor when I saw this topic. I have been experiencing what I can only describe as internal tremor ever since my symptoms started. I especially feel it in my legs, arms, and back. However, today while I was talking on the phone my left hand (the one I was holding the phone in) began trembling uncontrollably. Freaked me out. Now my BFS anxiety, which I have to deal with every day, but has been pretty good lately is on full alert. So, this type of tremor is common with BFS and not a sign of something else???

Warmly,

Tremorer checking in. Also a ratcheter, shaker and swayer. I've had hands, jaw, head, arms, legs, all-over tremors.

Just BFS. No worries.

I've felt the internal tremors and the ones that happen with purposeful movement, or with the hand in a certain position.

I quite hated the tremors until I knew they were related to bfs. Now I barely notice them. Anxiety ABOUT the tremors makes them a lot worse, trust me.

Hope this helps you calm down a bit.

I also get tremors, moreso external now. I had severe internal tremors at the highest point of my stress with this illness. Now I get occassional external tremors, primarily in my hands and sometimes in my legs, but I notice that is when my stress or anxiety are heightened. My hand tremors were very bad before the Thanksgiving holiday, then when I was up visiting with family for a few days, it was as if I never had them, they just dissappeared. I notice they are back slightly now that I am back to work. I definitely think stress and anxiety play a big role and I was told by my neuro that they can appear in the VERY LATE stages of ALS when someone is trying to move a muscle that is not working right, but this is a completely separate thing for us.

Tremors are my biggest problem right now. I seem to have the ratcheting tremors where my muscles shake when I move them and only in certain positions.

Very frustrating but benign.
