Returning After Long Break: Foot & Hand Cramps

Hi, I have not posted in awhile. I had been twitching away and was okay with that, then on September 22nd I helped my father in law who is an auctioneer, work an auction. It was 94 degrees outside and I was on my feet, by 3:00 that afternoon I had the worst foot cramp on the right side I have ever experienced, I wrote down every item that was sold, by that evening my right hand was cramping near my thumb. My hand has not been so bad, but my foot has cramped every day.

If this didn't worry me enough, the last week my toes on both feet have been jumping, they move from side to side. Then yesterday morning my right thumb woke me up, it was in a full pounding twitch, then my index finger joined in until I got up.

I know that *** presents on one side, so I am back to complete DOOM & GlOOM. I know that there is such a thing as benign cramp fasiculations. I'm hoping that's what this is. I am going through the whole "What If" phase of this wonderful syndrome, What if I had my EMG's too soon and it was just too early for the denervation to show up? I had them in March. I see my neuro for a follow next week and I'm going to ask for another EMG

If anyone has had finger ot toe dancing, please let me know! Or the cramping, my husband says that now I'm just paying more attention to my body, and he's probably right. Once you have the *** seed planted, it's there and it grows!!! I would appreceiate any input!
Thanks Kim

Hey Kim - Many (most?) people here get the dreaded finger twitches. I get them frequently... and I get them sometimes when I wake up as well. Haven't had the toe thing yet, but I'll probably get there soon... It started in my eyelid, and seems to be moving down... just hit the calves last night:

Your husband is right, that's what I called heightened twitching sensitivity. Then again, its hard to ignore the fingers when they start pointing on their own....

Cheers,
-Bill

Hi KIMPLIN, I have had the cramps they lasted a long time before they
finally went away and I still get them from time to time. I have also had
the finger jumping thing too. It may take awhile for this to subside but
it will eventually make sure you wear good shoes. I have found certain
shoes that I was wearing would set my cramping off sounds stupid I
know but it dose. As I have heard if you had your EMG done into the
symptoms it was not done to early it would have shown something. It
is scary I know. You are right about the seed thing it just keeps the old
cycle going. What has probaby happened is you have overworked your
self and it just set it off and now its going to take awhile to settle down.
Hang in there your going to see your neuro soon but I bet he will probably say the same thing.
