    Back Pain After Football Injury

I agree with David on this one. A trapped nerve at L4/5 woud confine pain to the leg, buttock or lower back. In most cases the symptoms from disc related problems can usually be eased by addopting a diferent position. If a trapped nerve was the cause then by releasing the nerve the symptoms...

    Left Hand Grip Strength Problems

YYYT, You've been twitching for a year now, as have I (almost anyway, I peg my anniversary date as on or about December 20, 2003.). You would have had real clinical weakness by now if it was ALS, and you are only talking about perceived weakness. Also, don't expect your strength in both...

    Hotspots Lasting Multiple Months: Relax!

Hey Dave! Good to hear from you again! The Neuro at the soundsoap98 General is a Dr Bone if that rings a bell. I've been toying with the idea of going ... sometimes I'm adamant and insist it's for the best, then other times I feel a twitch somewhere and get worried of being told some awful news...

    Trying Out a Fizzling Zing

I haven't had my chin twitch in awhile, but it's twitching today like crazy. It feels like a combination of a twitch, a tickle and a pins and needles feeling and it's only on the left side of my chin. Today must be head and face day because something is twitching on the left side of my head...

Afraid to Talk - Need Support

This is the line I heard in law school....those who can, do.......those who cant, teach.........maybe this applies to medical school as well. Maybe your solution is to go to to a practicing physician instead of a professor?

    Battling Stress, Worry, and Anxiety

Hey Barb, That is so funny what you said about your husband. My husband NEVER worries about his health but put him in a car he is the exact same way driving. He gets so upset in the car and he gets really nervous when driving interstates. He flips out when he merges and driving doesn't even...

    Trying Immune Suppressants for BFS?

I'd be interested to hear if they work. My Mom has rheumatoid arthritis and my Dad died from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which is an immune system disease.

    Mystery Pins and Needles Sensation

From what I've read, pins and needles is not a part of ALS. Pins and needles is considered a sensation and ALS does not involve loss of sensation, but loss of use and movement.

    Accepting BFs Over Bad Alternatives

I've been posting here for about 6 weeks. Once I started taking my focus off the twitching, I also noticed it much less. I've also had concerns with perceived/clinical weakness, but I'm as strong, if not stronger, than I was when this started. I'm now doing 15 pushups with my 35 pound 3 1/2...

ALS Symptoms: Weakness and EMG Tests

I'm doing much better thanks. In the 5 or so weeks since this madness started, I've had a good appointment with my GP, who insisted I don't have ALS, and a clean MRI to rule out MS. I'm holding off on seeing a neuro for now. I'm taking Xanax three times a day (low dose, .25 mg). I saw a...

ALS Symptoms: Weakness and EMG Tests

Check out this link under the section labeled "gait". It says you're supposed to walk across the room once normally, then once on your heels and then once on your toes. I don't see anything saying they test you standing still while standing on your heels or toes.

    Has Anyone Else Experienced This?

I've noticed that after drastically reducing my caffeine intake and starting Xanax 5 weeks ago, my left eye twitch has pretty much disappeared. It was twitching nonstop for awhile. My eye doctor said excessive caffeine use can be a cause of the eye twitch. I now have a new twitch on the...

ALS Symptoms: Weakness and EMG Tests

Hi Robbie - I have the exact same problem. I can walk on my toes and heels easily and I can stand on my toes easily, but I can't stand still on my heels. I keep tipping over. The only way I can stand on my heels for any length of time is to put a hand or finger on something to balance myself.

Considering Manic Symptoms? Test Lithium Levels

I posted previously about my GP and how he recommended I see a hypnotist. He lost a child and was at wits end stress wise and he said the hypnoist helped a great deal. I haven't called yet and was still somewhat skeptical, but I read an article in this week's edition of Newsweek magazine that...
