Let Anxiety Go: Advice from Experience

Hi all. Here is some advice from a guy who went through a lot of the things a lot of you may be going through. Go to a doctor and if they say BFS or tell you you're ok, LET IT GO. The twitching is kind of weird and not exactly pleasant, but let it go. Life is tough enough to waste daylight...

Curing BFS: Letting Go Is Key

It's difficult to do (I know), but the "cure" for BFS is to let it go.With all the toxins in our food, water, and environment, with all the electromagnetic waves we are exposed to daily, with all the stressors in life, who knows what brings them on or why we continue to twitch? There is no...

New to MS - Seeking Help

SURE SOUNDS LIKE BFS.My advice though, is to talk to a doctor, and if they suggest you see a specialist to be safe, go to the best one you can. You can mess around on here for weeks, months, or God forbid, years; and still not resolve the anxiety issues caused by the twitching. Being cleared...

    Terrified of Big Three Diseases

Relax. You sound like any number of other folks on here. I was on here constantly until I went to a good neuro and got a clean bill of health. Now I get on a couple of times a year to check in and reassure the newbies. Everything you read from the mods is pretty much spot on. Twitches in...

    Twitching All Over: Help Needed

If you have been cleared by three doctors, you need to let it go. I know it's tough when you are twitching all the time, but letting it go is THE BEST THING YOU CAN POSSIBLY DO. After I was cleared by a neuro, I let it go. Two years + later, I still twitch. I have a thumper in my right...

    Checking in After Two Years

Hi Barbie! How are you doing? I remember you too. Seems like we both started twitching around the same time.

    Foot Twitching & Toe Cramping?

Yes. Try wool socks. I've also found I notice them more often at home. When that's the case, I wear jogging shoes over my wool socks. Not sure why it helps, but it does.

    Checking in After Two Years

Hi everyone. I check back on the board from time to time. I started twitching 2 years ago (the day after I had way too much Jameson and Guinness on St Patrick's Day). I went to the Wash U Neuromuscular Clinic in St L and got a good report back in November of 09. It started like so many of...

Anxiety About ALS Despite BFS Diagnosis

I decided to check in. I log on here once every few months or so. Things don't really change much, but that's not a bad thing. About the best advice I could give is to trust your doctor and if you don't, go to another one. At some point, you have to trust them or fear of "you-know-what" will...

Dr. Pestronks Clinic in St. Louis, MO

Ditto...I saw Dr. Harms. He was great. Anyone close to St Louis should strongly consider going here if you have concerns. It can take a while to get in, but it is worth it.

New People, Old Friends: BFS Advice

I see lots of new names and some I still recognize. I cut and pasted this from a post I made a little over a year ago. I hope it helps. My advice to newbies:1. The anxiety is the worse part of BFS or "benign fasiculations" as my neuro called them.2. This board was pretty much right on the money...

    Who Had/Didnt Have EMGs?

I saw two neuros (actually I did not like the first guy I went to, so I only saw him once). For what it's worth, they both wanted to do EMGs to be safe. The first guy wanted to try all kinds of silly things (which is why I told him to fly a kite and went to a NM specialist). Why? I don't...

BFS: Journey from 2007 to Now

Congratulations. I'm sure getting the anxiety under control (and actually getting enough rest) have made the biggest difference. I truly believe our lifestyles can make this thing better or worse. I was cleared by a neuro last November after the twitching started in March of 09. Not...

    Night Sweats: Is this BFS?

I had them last summer at the peak of my anxiety. Of course my bedroom gets hot at night too, so I would be hesitant to sa there was a correlation to benign fasiculations. I would tend to agree with the anxiety theory. Night sweats haven't been a problem since.

    BFS with Spontaneous Resolution?

In my experience I think this is true to an extent. Once you TRULY realize that it is benign it ceases (or at least in my case) to be an issue. It does not cause anxiety or any other issues with my day to day functioning. Although I don't pay a lot of attention to the twitches anymore, they...
